<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Jags safety Darius breaks ankle, done for seasonBy Len PasquarelliESPN.comJacksonville Jaguars strong safety Donovin Darius, who battled back from a severe knee injury that limited him to just two games in 2005, will miss the rest of this season after he suffered a broken right ankle in Monday night's victory over the New York Giants.Donovin DariusSafetyJacksonville JaguarsProfile2006 SEASON STATISTICSTot Ast Solo FF Sack Int48 39 9 0 0 0Darius, 31, will likely be placed on injured reserve. The play on which Darius was injured occurred about halfway through the first quarter, as the nine-year veteran was hit from behind on 13-yard screen pass to Giants tailback Tiki Barber. Darius slammed the turf, in pain and apparent disgust, because he seemed to realize the seriousness of the injury and felt it resulted from an illegal block.Even as he left the field, Darius was jawing at New York players. After the game, as he walked through the locker room on crutches, Darius declined to discuss the injury. Some of his teammates, however, felt the block on Darius, who was at the bottom of the pile, was illegal, although no one seemed able to identify who delivered it.Second-year veteran Gerald Sensabaugh, who might have more coverage range than Darius but lacks his experience, will move into the starting lineup."It's a shame [about Darius]," said defensive tackle John Henderson. "Here's a guy who knocked himself out [rehabilitating] from the knee injury last year, and now this. It just doesn't seem fair."Darius had 48 tackles and three passes defensed this season. For his career, the former Syracuse star, a first-round pick in the 1998 draft, has played in 115 games, all starts. He has a franchise-record 836 tackles, two sacks, 14 interceptions, seven forced fumbles and six recoveries. Known earlier in his career primarily as a safety who played best close to the line of scrimmage, Darius has improved his coverage skills over the last few seasons.Last year, his season was cut short when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee. The broken ankle marks the third major injury in the NFL for Darius, who suffered a hip injury in 2001.Darius is the third Jacksonville defensive starter to be lost for the season, joining end Reggie Hayward and middle linebacker Mike Peterson, both of whom suffered torn knee ligaments.</div>
