The Raiders took a while, but are playing teams tough and almost beat the Chargers today. They are like the Texans in that they are playing better than their record.Meanwhile, the Lions simply look pathetic against everyone.

But Kubiak and McCarthy have had much tougher jobs turning around some of the worst teams in the NFL and have them playing much better then their record shows. Just my opinion that they have done a better job so far.
I'd say if Edwards came in and directed the team to a below .500 record you would have a good case, but he has filled in pretty damn well no longer having Vermeil or Saunders in KC. Also with injuries to Trent Green, LJ, etc throughout the season. That's just my opinion.Houston still reeks even though they are better, not THAT much better, so I wouldn't give Kubiak that much credit.

They are definitely on the way up. They were a horribly bad team last year and are ten times better this year.
I think Linehan is better than friggin 8th.. but oh well, you're entitled to your opinion. And I don't think any of them are doing bad... except Marinelli.. he sucks. And Edwards is a good fucking coach, get over it already. You try win with as many injuries as the Jets had last year.... hell.. have Mangini try win with those injuries. Guranteed the suck, no matter who the coach is.
In the longrun the best coaches out of this group will be Linehan, Childress, Payton, and mangini. Every first year coach should have a losing record with a few exceptions. Look at the best of all time. They all went like 4-12 at the best in their first year.

Guranteed the suck, no matter who the coach is.</div>1) Mangini is winning without most of those players who were injured..... :whistling: Kevin Mawae - CutJason Fabini - CutJay Fiedler - CutWayne Chrebet - RetiredCurtis Martin - Will probably Retire SoonDerrick Blaylock - 4th String RB, Been Inactive since Week 4.The only players who were injured last season that really made a significant impact this year are Chad Pennington, Chris Baker, and Eric Barton....and considering the Jets have been winning in spite of Pennington half of the season, that's not exactly a strong list.2) My main problem with Herm Edwards had little to do with how we had performed last season, it was how he mis-used talent on the Jets roster. - For 2 Years, Herm Edwards has Jerricho Cotchery buried in our depth chart with him seeing little to no playing time (Yet, constantly signing praises about how well he is doing in Practice). Then Mangini comes along and he's playing like one of the best #2 recievers in the game.- For 4 Years, Bryan Thomas, our 2002 First Round Pick, rode the bench behind John Abraham and Shaun Ellis, and despite always looking Good in the rare event that he actually did see playing time, he was never able to consistantly get onto the field. Yet, When Mangini comes along and he moves him to a DE/LB position and he looks great now that he's finally seeing consistant playing time, racking up 4 sacks in the Past 4 Games.- For 3 Years, DeWayne Robertson, our 2003 First Round Pick, Got a ton of playing time at Defensive Tackle, but was never given any real teaching on how to excel at the next level. Enter Eric Mangini and once again, he has been playing at a Pro-Bowl level the past 3 weeks, gaining Defensive Player of the Week honors against the Patriots.- For 3 Years, Victor Hobson, our 2003 Second Round Pick, struggled in the NFL most of the time because his lack of speed was exposed in a Base 4-3 Defense. Yet, when moved to a 3-4 Defense, because of the extra linebacker he doesn't have to cover as much ground he has been playing at the Highest Level of his career. As a matter of fact, in 2001 the New York Jets had a very similar linebacker to Victor Hobson, who was too slow to cover that much ground in the 4-3 Defense. But instead of suiting the Defense to the Personell he had at the time, he chose to let a relatively unknown linebacker named James Farrior leave the Jets that offseason in Free Agency for the Pittsburgh Steelers where he became a Superstar. You would think Herm would have learned from his first mistake. :whistling: - Kerry Rhodes has emerged as Superstar and a Leader under Eric Mangini, putting up 4 Sacks, 3 Forced Fumbles, 3 Interceptions, and 80 Tackles so far this season. 3) My other beefs with Herm Edwards was his ultra-conservative approach and his terrible in-game management. Most of the Kansas City fans I have talked to imply that nothing has changed there either.

He is a fit in Mangini's 3-4, but never fit into the 4-3. We should have drafted a 4-3 LB as our defense was 4-3 at the time.Kerry Rhodes made the All-Rookie team under Edwards, and while he looks better under Mangini, Erik Coleman (also made All-Rookie under Edwards) has looked worse. And James Farrior lead all linebackers in tackles in the AFC the year before he left via Free Agency. So it's not exactly like he was an unknown.

He just couldn't keep up his level of play that he had his rookie season, no matter who the head coach was. And while it did take Coleman a bit to adjust to the new Defense, hes looked solid the past few weeks. Nothing spectacular though. And my point about Farrior is that nobody outside of New York had really knew who he was....while your right he was not exactly an unknown, he didn't become a household name until he went to Pittsburgh. Picky....Picky....
