West Virginia's head coach Rich Rodriguez appeared ready to jump ship last night to Alabama after he was offered 2 mil a year plus incentives to coach the Crimson Tide. Changing his mind, Rodriguez decided to skip the most overrated college coaching job in America in favor of staying with the Mountaineers and the ability to make a national title run next year.Smart move Rich. Smart move.

Something that seems high profile hire, but actually isn't.

Who wants that job?? I said it before, I'm gonna say it again. Bama has no national recruting base, and Auburn owns the state of Bama

They have double-digit National Championships in the NCAA and a rediculous amount of SEC Titles in their History. Their level of success has been Yankee-Like over the years despite struggleing as of recently. Rich Rodriguez turned them down because the money they were offering him sucked and Nick Saban apparantly wants to stay in the NFL.

Way to come up with a halfway decent arguement against it. :whistling:</div>I touched on this in the Saban Topic, but here we go:More Media Pressure than 99% of college football teamsPoor In-State Recruiting (Auburn #1)Worse out of State Recruiting (LSU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Arkansas, and South Carolina all have the surrounding states covered. What's their saving grace? No great teams in Mississippi? Yeah, I think LSU, Arkansas, and Auburn all pick that one clean)Fanatics that do such things as Burn couches on your lawn after a win, egg your house after a loss, and take pictures of your wife in sweatpants in the grocery store and run articles about how she should have more class.8th highest "Prestige" in the conference. (SS makes USC higher)What's the positive?A little bit more money and the great "history" that they were good decades ago? Right. Sounds good, sign me up!

Stupid shit like that happens everywhere. With Rutgers, Brian Leonard's car would get egged after each loss and now he's considered God-Like there. Right. Sounds good, sign me up!Rich Rodriguez got 1.75 million a year for the next 8 years or so to stay in WVU as opposed to being offered 2 million a year for 6 years in Alabama. Such a minor pay increase isn't worth starting over for. If he was offered just half of the pay Nick Saban would have gotten he probably would be their head coach right now.</div>
