<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Dec 8 - The Cubs' decision to put Carlos Zambrano's extension on the backburner could prove costly down the road, the Daily Herald reports. Thanks to the skyrocketing price of starting pitching, Zambrano stands to cash in big-time if he hits the open market next November, and he'll be at the head of the free-agent class of pitchers for 2008.Talks have yet to begin on Zambrano's extension, and probably won't get serious until the start of spring training. GM Jim Hendry has allotted more than $270 million this offseason, and at the going rate, he may have to add another $100 million to keep Zambrano a Cub.</div>

You sign with Boras for 1 reason: to make the most money. If you want to take anything else into consideration, then he's not the agent for you.I still HOPE my boy CZ signs with the Yankees.

    1. Z canned Bora$$2. He has said he wants to stay with the Cubs3. People said this same crap about Aramis Ramirez in 2005, and about Derrek Lee in 2006, and the Cubs locked them4. The Cubs have thrown out cash like crazy this winter, so I am fully confident they will pony up the dough to lock him

Pettitte said he wanted to retire an Astro, before his contract was up.3. Aramis Ramirez wouldn't have stayed if they didn't give him the huge contract.4. How long can it last? Even the Cubs have spending limits.

forget about what happened w/ A-Ram this winter. I'm talking about what happened in 2004-05. Z will be a Cub. He's said it many times. And he has mentioned his dislike for the Yuckies a few times

"I'll never play for a team like the Yankees"Things change. Especially when we offer 3 mil more per year than the Cubs do.

Z will not bolt to the Evil Empire over 3M. He is not that kind of guy. And I know you're going to bring up Johnny Damon next, but Damon said he left b/c of uncertiaty regarding Manny, as mind you Theo Epstein had left as GM.

Oh, and another thing Vilma: Only the Cubs can talk w/ Z for the next year. :nuttkick:If he wanted to go on the market, he would have kept Bora$$ as his agent

If the Cubs offer a 6 year, 108 million dollar deal (18 per year), and the Yankees offer a 6 year 126 million dollar deal (21 per year), which do you think he would take? Which would any reasonable person take?

I'd rather dump gas on myself, throw a match on myself, and jump of the Empire State Building.

I know if I was in that situation and we were talking about offers of 120 million from the Cubs or 130 million from the Yankees that the money would be one of the last few things I would be considering because 120 million is plenty enough to live off of.....other things are simply more important like playing somewhere where one could be happy and their family would be happy.
