To mention Joe Namath even in the top 10 of best QBs in the NFL is laughable. The only reason the guy is known for anything was a decent year for the jets and winning a SB after his famous gaurantee. If it was not for that, he would have never been as famous as he was nor would he be in the hall of fame. He does not even deserve to be in the hall, his stats are horrible and he hardly played well through his career. He was a flash in the pan. Seriously. Here are his career stats.http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/member.jsp?player_id=161

His passing stats would suck if they were in Today's game, but the NFL was a much different league back then. Most Quarterbacks in that Era had Sub 50 completion percentages, and Johnny Unitas (Who would be the 60's version of Peyton Manning) was only at 55% Completion and a Sub 80 QB Rating for his Career. You're also completely neglecting the fact that he had Chronic Knee problems which cost him many seasons, including most of his prime, where he would have been able to pile up much better stats. You're also forgetting what he brought to the NFL was not just numbers on the field. If the Jets had lost Super Bowl 3, there likely would not have been another Superbowl because the NFC was considered by all the Clearly Superior League back then and the NFL merger would have likely never happened. Super Bowl 3 changed NFL History because the Jets had won that game and proved to the world that the AFC could compete with the NFC, thus leading to the Merger. Joe Namath was also the First Quarterback who commonly used the Shotgun Offense and made it popular (Because his knees were so bad, they put him in the Shotgun to buy him some time in the Pocket) and the First Quarterback to throw for 4,000 Yards in a season (In a 14 Game Season.)
