People always talk about he never takes low character guys and doesn't do big trades.... but he got Corey Dillon (loudmouth low-character guy out of the Jailhouse that is Cincinnati) and traded up for Chad Jackson in last year's draft. True, he didn't sell the farm for a top 10 pick, but he's never had the draft-day ammo to do so either.Plus, as I must keep reminding everyone, even Romeo Crennel said that Mangini isn't a lot alike Belichick, and if he is anyone's "clone" it is Bill Parcells.

Bryan Thomas is a 3-4 OLB, even if he has gotten reps at DE - it just shows their weak depth at the position. Robertson is at least adequate, but von Oelhoffen isn't going to cut it. And about trading up..With Mangini coming out from under Belichicks wing, I really doubt that's even going to be considered.</div>4-3Thomas - von Oelhoffen - Robertson - EllisBarton - Vilma - Hobson3-4 von Oelhoffen - Robertson - EllisThomas - Barton - Vilma - HobsonIt's not showing our weak depth as much as it is showing Thomas's flexibility. The bolded Role is the one we are talking about replacing. Kimo von Oelhoffen is old, and quite honestly not that good, but the team loves him as he has stepped up into a leadership role, so he'll probably just be reduced to a backup role instead of outright cut. Also, NE also has a history of trying to trade up, they're just not willing to overpay alot to do so. He tried to trade up the year that Dewayne Robertson was available in the draft, just the Jets were willing to give up more for his services. Also as Jon_Vilma pointed out, he traded up for Chad Jackson last year also. Tangini has also already made several draft day trades last year for positioning, albeit most of them were minor.

And Thomas is NOT a 3-4 DE.I think the Jets will be looking at two players in the first round when they're on the clock: Ray McDonald and Adam Carriker. They may not take either, and bank on one of them falling to their first pick in the second, but I would NOT be surprised if one of them became a Jet.
Prospects I would look at if I were the Jets for our First 3 Picks (Rounds 1-2)(Positions listed are what I would expect them to play for the Jets if drafted)RB - Marshawn LynchRB - Michael BushRB/FB - Brian LeonardG - Justin BlalockG - Josh BeekmanG - Ben GrubbsRT - Levi BrownRT - Arron SearsRT - Tony Ugoh3-4 DE / 3-4 NT / 4-3 DT - Amobi Okoye3-4 DE / 4-3 DT - Adam Carriker3-4 DE / 4-3 DT - Ikaika-Alama Francis3-4 DE / 4-3 DT - Ray McDonald3-4 OLB / 4-3 DE - Lamar Woodley3-4 OLB / 4-3 DE - Jarvis Moss3-4 OLB / 4-3 DE - Victor Abiamiri3-4 OLB / 4-3 DE - Anthony SpencerCB - Darrelle RevisCB - Chris HoustonCB - Josh Wilson

I've watch his highlights and a few different live games. He's never particularly impressed me. Even in highlights.Woodley is still my number 1 choice at 3-4 OLB, but I'd love to steal Banta-Cain from the Pats to opposite Bryan Thomas. That would be a sweet 3-4 OLB duo. Solid against the pass and solid against the run.As far as corner goes, with us not losing anyone aside from who we cut, and having plenty of cap room, I would LOVE to sign Asante Samuel. It makes too much sense.

I said that I thought he would be an okay Left Tackle (Which I admit to being wrong about) and that we had more pressing needs at positions where a QB was coming off of 2 Torn Rotator Cuff Surguries and RB where we had someone who was never going to play that position again. :whistling:
