Merriman is a beast but he cheated.
I don't know how you CAN vote for a player using steroids. That's cheating. A player that is using an illegal substance that makes him better at football has an edge over the guy that isn't. Taylor earned it.
If you think about it though, normal guys who use steroids don't lead the league in sacks even missing 4 games. Without 'roids he would still be good, but not as good. I don't think people give Merriman enough credit, despite looking at the steroids issue. I honestly don't think they were steroids, but a substance containing some kind of illegal drug that helps a little.
Merriman just lost all of his credibility when he tested positive. When you test positive for something in the NFL, its almost like whatever youve done in your career is belittled, as it should be.Jason deserved it, hopefully this will make him think harder about retirement and stay for a few more years.
Even as a Jets fan, JT earned it.I'll tell you why:14 forced turnovers (INT and FF combined)That's almost once a game Taylor got his team a turnover. That's insane.
How many votes did Urlacher get just wondering?? Not trying to be a homer or anything, I just want to see how he did. I think Taylor earned it.
I still say it should be Champ. He had so many fewer chances to force TO's.He had 10 INTs when he had the ball passed his way about 4 times a game. If that.
Why is there so much biased thoughts on this site? Umm, Champ didn't deserve any award this year, he didn't do nearly what he is capable of doing. Taylor was the heart of this defense this year, not the usual Zach Thomas. Taylor had as mentioned, 14 forced turnovers, 2 interceptions included that were both TD's. He generated a lot of the morale for that defense when he played well.

Champ had 10 Interceptions and was a Shut Down Corner while doing so.

Look at most of the topics with an award and tell me how many times he says Champ.

Stats arent the only thing that factor into the ballot voting, like somone said above JT was the heart and soul on our defense and one of the only bright spots on the team.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (KyleOrton18 @ Jan 6 2007, 01:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Nice sig Capt. Comeback!! :LMAO:</div>lolIf he gets fewer chances to make plays, then he shouldn't win. JT is known to be a lethal lineman, and he has fewer chances to do anything remotely close to what a DB does. JT was ALWAYS double blocked, sometimes tripled, and still was a top in the sack department. He had one of his best seasons in his career, his 3rd most sacks in a season, his most interceptions in a season, his only 2 TD's of his great career, but no that isn't good enough because Champ doesn't get thrown to
What Jason Taylor did was phenomenal. This guy deserves this award because he played his heart off. i mean 14 forced fumbles? thats amazing. those 2 intercpetions he caught were very good plays and he ran both of those for TDs. I've never seen him play this good like in his whole career. I hope he stay because i believe he can play this good like he did this year
