But he did turn this club around. He was given talent and he used it wisely.

I do think Mangini was a great candidate and I felt he should have won, but I think Payton created the most chance for a team who didn't have a home last year. The fan base was crushed for last year and he created opporitunity for them to believe in something again.

Its ridicolous that Andy Reid didnt get a vote. We're talking about a team without their franchise player and a premier DLinemen and the Eagles still won their division.

As much as I hate to say it, you are right. I don't think he was worthy of winning, but to not get a vote is kind of ridiculous.

And I do sympathize with Katrina victims, but that should not factor into an award like this as Payton wasn't even the coach at the time this happened. It should be based on what was actually done on a football field first and foremost and I feel that Eric Mangini has done as impressive a job as Sean Payton, and ideally they should be Co-Coach of the Year.I also think Reid and Fisher should have gotten more votes then they did also.

Well deserved. New Orleans always been a bad franchise and he really clean this place up. Got rid of over 20+ players on the team this offseason and that gotta be something. Most people were criticizing him for drafting Reggie Bush in the 1st round and look how he was using him. He was doing a great job for this organization and he will take their franchise to the next level hopefully. However I thought Eric Mangini should have been consider because he did such a great job putting this team together because everyone were saying this jets were such a mess but Mangini knew it wasnt because he told them if they can listen to what he wants them to do then were gonna win games and thats what we need for this organization. Both coaches are gonna have very successful careers in my opinion.

I can't say I agree. I don't disagree... I just think he had more talent to work with and a much easier schedule (and conference) to play in than Mangini did.Again, no specifics to back it up.He did a great job though, hats off.*wishes there was a hats-off smiley icon*There kind of is::hi:

I definitely think Payton deserves this.. prolly has the 2nd toughest NFC division in the NFC and goes out and gets a first round bye in the playoffs, dragging the entire team completely out of the shits. my hat definitely goes off to him.

Though the NFC is weak, it is quite an accomplishment for a first year coach, I wouldnt want to face Vick and the Falcons, Smith and the Panthers and the tenacious D of Tampa Bay each 2 times a season...

It's much better on paper then it is in reality.

well deserving, even tho Mangini did a wonderful job too.the saints are one season removed from 3-13 and jets from 4-12, the season b4 that saints were 8-8 which is respectable and in NFC they would of most likely made it to the play offs, the Jets were 10-6.Anyways, look what peyton did w/ a rookie WR, 7th round pick, Colston, what a fantastic year by a player not many have heard of coming into the draft.Bush is used perfectly w/ deuce.I think both coaches are well deserving, but my vote goes to Peyton.
