Re: Mike Furrey gets 3 year contract "extension" <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Mike Furrey will be back with the Detroit Lions next season. The wide receiver agreed to terms on a three-year deal with the Lions on Wednesday."This is a great day," Lions coach Rod Marinelli said Wednesday. "You want to reward men for performing for the Detroit Lions, so this contract sends a strong message to all of our players. Mike earned this, not just because of his play on the field, but because of his work ethic and character."Furrey, scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent, had 11 catches in the season finale Sunday to finish with 98, the most ever by a non-rookie following a season when he had no catches.Furrey's 10-yard reception in the third quarter of the Lions' 39-31 victory over the Dallas Cowboys was his sixth of the game, giving him the record that he extended. Furrey is a fourth-year player who started 11 games as a defensive back for St. Louis last season.Lionel Taylor had 92 catches for Denver in the AFL in 1960, the previous mark for the most catches by a non-rookie following a season with none. Anquan Boldin of the Cardinals had 101 catches as a rookie in 2003, the most catches by any player with none the previous season.Furrey finished with 1,086 yards and six touchdowns. Furrey and Roy Williams (1,310 yards) were the first Lions duo to both have 1,000 yards receiving in the same season since Germane Crowell and Johnnie Morton in 1999."Looking at those numbers gives me the chills," Furrey said. "My goals were 50 catches, 500 yards and five touchdowns. We knew there would be a lot of opportunities in this offense. We just didn't know we'd be a starter by the second week of the season."</div>
Re: Mike Furrey gets 3 year contract "extension" I kinda expected this, alot of his success is due to Mike Martz and being in Detroit allows him to keep progressing.
Re: Mike Furrey gets 3 year contract "extension" Yea'll still suck, but I think in a few years they can be a good team once they get a decent defense.
Re: Mike Furrey gets 3 year contract "extension" Lions are screwd until they get somewhat of an offense/defensive line. They won't get good until they free up money from Jeff Backus' disgustingly big deal.

People like Mike Williams are still getting bigtime dollers for not produceing, although I don't expect him to make the roster next season. I'd also have to think they're probably still paying Charles Rogers on the cap since they cut him so late.
