Peyton Manning is considered a QB great, a lockdown Hall of Famer... but look at his playoff stats:Games: 4QB Rating: 70.5Yards: 1,034TD: 3INT: 7I don't know about you, but I'd like my QB to do better than 7 interceptions and 3 TD's in 4 games. Those numbers are weak. Now look if Rex Grossman had won:Games: 3QB Rating: 73.2Yards: 591TD: 3INT: 3He actually outplayed Peyton in the playoffs, but was still very mediocre. What's the motivation to have a great QB? Is he really that important? It seems to me that there are many paths to winning a game and winning a Superbowl.
What your not mentioning though is that Peyton Manning played clutch for the first time in his career. In the Second Half against the Patriots he played one of the best halfs of a Football Game in NFL Playoff History. Against the Bears his numbers weren't that impressive, but Peyton Manning also converted basically every third down conversion (or so it seemed) and kept drives alive to keep the Bears off the field. The last 6 Quarters he played much better then the numbers showed, and that was obvious to anybody that watched.

Not to mention he had to play the Bears, Patriots, and Ravens defenses in 3 consecutive weeks. Talk about not getting a break.
