<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>With the Superbowl Champion Colts projected a mere 2.4 Million under the salary cap next year they are going to have to make some tough choices. Dominic Rhodes is more than likely going to be allowed to leave, but Pro Bowl defenders Dwight Freeney and Cato June are going to be tougher choices. Indianapolis will have to make some roster moves in order to keep just one of them, and keeping both will be next to impossible. It’s unlikely they allow Freeney to leave for nothing, however, so if they can’t afford to keep him expect them to use their Franchise Tag in order to make a trade with someone.Don’t be surprised if the Ravens decide to take a QB as early as the 2nd round. General Manager Ozzie Newsom "I have come to the realization that Steve could play two years, three years, I don't know, but I'm already starting to think about who could be the next trigger-puller.” Also, the Ravens were reportedly interested in Colt Brennan before he decided to return to Hawaii. There is heavy interest in San Diego restricted Free Agent Michael Turner. The interest thus far is coming primarily from the Browns, Jets, and Packers. The Browns appear to have the inside track, though, because San Diego insiders put Turner’s value at a high 2nd round pick and Cleveland has the highest 2nd rounder. The Packers (16) or the Jets (26) would have to offer their 1st round picks, or addition mid-round picks, to top the Browns if they offer their 2nd rounder. While most people are projecting the Chargers to take a WR in the first round of the draft, our sources tell us that they are expecting to be outbid for free agent Kris Dielman and are going to look for a replacement in the draft if they can’t afford to keep him. No word on which prospect San Diego has their eye on, if anyone, and their first choice is to keep Dielman, but at this point it just doesn’t seem likely that they’ll be able to do so.Word out of Louisville is that the New York Giants have requested every film of footage that the team has on 19 year old prospect Amobi Okoye, including any practice film if available. While many teams have interest in the defensive tackle, so far it seems the team with most interest is by far New York.We hear that the 49ers’ coaching staff fell in love with Ole Miss LB Patrick Willis after coaching him in the Senior Bowl. Judging which hole San Francisco will choose to fill with their 1st round pick will be difficult for an outside observer, but the safe money is on Willis. The Raiders are involved in plenty of rumors, but surprisingly none of it involves the 1st overall pick. The first of the two main rumors would be shipping Randy Moss to Green Bay for “3 or 4” mid round picks, even though they would only get pennies on the dollar for what they gave up for Moss. The second of the rumors is shipping their either their 2nd round pick, or multiple mid round picks in exchange for former 1st round pick Byron Leftwich from the Jaguars. If Oakland was able to pull off both trades, it could essentially turn out to be an even exchange of Moss for Leftwich.Minnesota is expected to bring a veteran QB into the mix, with the most likely candidate being Jeff Garcia, in the offseason. Neither Brooks Bollinger nor Tarvaris Jackson is considered ready for a full time starting job, and Brad Johnson is on his way out. While Jackson is considered the future of the franchise, it’s become widely accepted within the Vikings’ front office that the team needs a 1 or two year stopgap before he’ll be ready. We’re hearing that the Lions are looking at not 1, but 2 Indianapolis free agents. While there is no secret that Detroit would love to add in Dwight Freeney in order to upgrade their pass rush, the Lions are also looking at adding in Dominic Rhodes to pair with the oft-injured Kevin Jones. Jones has a long road to a full recovery, and it’s not a bad idea for the Lions to have a backup plan should he continue to have issues.Bobby Petrino’s plan, as we’re told, with Michael Vick is to stop letting him play in the kiddie pool, and to toss him in the deep end and see if he can swim. Petrino doesn’t want to spend his entire tenure as the Falcons’ Head Coach wondering if his QB should really be the face of the franchise. The plan is to take this next year and see if Vick really is the next great one, or if it’s time to give up on him.</div>
1. Colts will end up restructuring Manning and Harrison once again to keep Freeney, While Rhodes and June will sign elsewhere.2. I've been saying that for about 3 months now. We all know McNair is old and looking towards the future would be a good idea, especially if they don't think Boller is in their future plans.3. Not supriseing, although I think I'd rather see the Jets offer like the Redskins Early Second Rounder and like our 5th rounder or a player like McCareins to top the Browns Early Second Rounder offer if that was the case. 4. Not supriseing again, Dielman is going to command some big time dollars, hopefully from the Jets.5. I don't think Okoye falls to the Giants, but he should be alot of teams top priority in the draft if he does.6. Not supriseing again, Patrick Willis is a good inside linebacker that would fit their defense.7. Both of those actions would definitely clear the way for them selecting Calvin Johnson #1 overall, but I'll take this as a grain of salt as it seems a bit farfetched to me. 8. Good luck getting a Veteran QB to sign in Minnesota to be on a short leash, although I guess it's better then being a backup somewhere else. 9. Freeney won't hit Free Agency, but I could definately see Rhodes in Detroit. 10. lol, I said this on my Jets board. They're giving Vick enough rope to hang him with, and when he fails nobody will complain when they get rid of him. They just need to hope they don't kill his trade value in the process.

So unfortunately for this year, it looks as if the Colts will still be able to bring back most of their guys. However, without any restructuring past this year, Manning's cap hit will escalate to $18.5 million in 2008 and increase to as much as $24 million.

He's never going to see those 24 million dollar against the cap seasons probably.
That's a lot of cap. It could happen, but it won't. You have to remember, by the time that happens, Harrison will have been retired, they will have probably no defense left by then, and I could see that passing offense take a nosedive with no solid WR's left. Honestly, the Colts should be drafting a WR this year in the 2nd to 3rd round area, or a 1st rounder next year. They need to plan ahead for the loss of Harrison. As for the cap, June will want more money, Freeney probably the same, Wayne will cost a lot when his contract needs to be reconstructed, Manning will need a lot of work on his costs, and then eventually June, Sanders, and probably Booger and some other defensive weapons. The Colts are screwed in the future, but for now, they have another chance at a ring.

If you have some more info on it, I'd like to see it.No matter what, though, they won't be able to avoid the remaining amount of prorated signing bonus. Between his intial $34.5 million bonus & the $10 million they added this year, they have about $30 million of bonus money out floating around and if they terminate the current deal at any point to make a new one, whatever is left gets accelerated to the current year. That's mostly why Steve McNair's '06 cap hit was going to be $24 million.
