Tim Hardaway used to be one of my favorite players but after this, this just shows a lack of a brain. I lose all respect for him.

I don't know about losing all respect for him, but it was definitely some stupid comments.

Hate him because he doesn't believe in the same things you do? That's not respectful either.

Sure, he showed he's not afraid to run his mouth. His apology:<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>As an African-American, I know all too well the negative thoughts and feelings hatred and bigotry cause," Hardaway said in Thursday's apology. "I regret and apologize for the statements that I made that have certainly caused the same kinds of feelings and reactions."I especially apologize to my fans, friends and family in Miami and Chicago. I am committed to examining my feelings and will recognize, appreciate and respect the differences among people in our society," he said. "I regret any embarrassment I have caused the league on the eve of one of their greatest annual events."</div>He said this himself in his apology. An African-American to say he is intolerant of another human being? Shows how times change. 30 years ago, all minorities especially blacks were the ones that weren't tolerated. Tim Hardaway wouldn't even be able to run his mouth if the nation did not rise above their racism (to a political extent, socially, it can still be debated how far we've come as a nation). He thought that because he's this hot shot player and analyst (not really, as good as he was, won't make the Hall of Fame), he can do whatever the hell he pleases. Thinking that is prejudicial should not be tolerated or respected unless you want to fall into a Nazi regime. Sure we have freedom of speech and while people do have their prejudices, do we all go to people and say things like "I hate blacks because they all act like gangsters," "I hate gays because they aren't like me," "I hate white people cause half of them can't even act their skin color," "I hate Asians cause they're all communistic bastards"? No cause we're all somewhat intelligent and know what to say and what not to say and can keep our own convictions to ourselves. If we're going to hold Michael Richards still accountable (heard of him performing lately?) for his anti-African American slur and Mel Gibson accountable (movie didn't do so hot, theatres still iffy about signing him) for his anti-Semitic slur, we have to do the same for Tim Hardaway and I applaud the NBA for quickly distancing themselves from him.
