<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Redskins keep Brunell, Pucillo; TE Fauria cutNFL.com wire reportsASHBURN, Va. (Feb. 28, 2007) -- The Washington Redskins finished restructuring Mark Brunell's contract, creating more space under the salary cap while ensuring he will return to the team next season. The team also re-signed offensive lineman Mike Pucillo and released tight end Christian Fauria. The moves were part of a furious final push to prepare the Redskins for the start of free agency March 2, when the team is expected to begin its yearly aggressive courtship of top players to fill its needs. The team has been talking to several veterans about renegotiating their deals, while others could be released March 1."There's a lot up in the air right now," coach Joe Gibbs said. "Most of it, to be truthful, is up in the air."Brunell will return as the backup to Jason Campbell, who became the starter midway through the 2006 season.Cornerback Shawn Springs is now the top uncertainty on the roster. The Redskins would like to reduce his cap number, and he could be cut if no deal is reached. The Redskins are expected to pursue a pair of free agents from Buffalo -- cornerback Nate Clements and linebacker London Fletcher -- once the free-agent market opens at 12:01 a.m. on March 2.Pucillo played 11 games as a reserve last season, often as an extra tight end on running plays. He joined the Redskins last year after previous stints with the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns.Fauria also joined the Redskins last year and played in nine games, making two catches for 17 yards. He severely sprained his ankle in November and ended the season on injured reserve.AP NEWSThe Associated Press News ServiceCopyright 2007, The Associated Press, All Rights Reserved</div>http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/WAS/10028842
Believe it or not, I am very happy to see Brunell back.Pucillo I don't really care about, but it's always good to have depth for low prices. But I am really ticked about Fauria leaving. The dude can play football. He was injured all last year (although he did play on some short-yardage situations). He was a great blocker and was a huge passing target to Campbell in camp (plus, every young QB likes a TE). But then again, we always sign Daniel Graham, Kyle Brady, Eric Johnson, or Ben Utecht. As for our future cuts, I think Daniels will be the one cut, not Springs or Wynn. Wynn is one of the nicest players to ever play the game of football, and Springs is still a fan favorite to little kids.

I don't really agree with you about Fauria, he's average at best and too expensive. Very replaceable with a Blocking Tight End in the 5th round. As for the other cuts. I could see Daniels and Springs both being cut. You're expected to draft a D-Lineman and Springs becomes unnecessary with a signing like Clements (If that was to happen).
I have heard, that Shawn Springs is a safe man, and that if anyone is cut its going to be Daniels or some others along the D-Line.Also not to mention that if they cut Springs, and dont get Clements, they are going to be screwed!
