He just tried to take Hollweg's head off, if anything he should be in a jail cell for that one.

This was as bad as Todd Bertuzzi or when Donald Brashear got sticked.

Bertuzzi was just an average cheap shot check that ended up being worst case scenario when the guy got injured, he didn't intend to seriously injure the guy, he intended to knock him into the ice. Whereas in this one Chris Simon had an intent to do bodily harm with a weapon when he slashed the guy in his face with the stick.

Any time someone purposly injures someone else, they should be suspended as long as the player is injured, plus 20% of the games missed. Say you cause someone to miss 20 games, you should be given 20, plus an additional 4. That's what it should be in any sport.

apparently, what i said above was afalse report. Now its all of regular season, and all of the isles playoff run. If they dont mek the playoffs, it would carry over in to next season, with it being a minimum of 25 games total. tht would be the longst suspension anyone has gotten for an on-ice hit.

Some injuries need to be punished based on his intent and not what actually happened. Hollweg only ended up missing the rest of the game to get stitches. So by that logic Simon would only get the rest of the game and maybe a period of the next game even though Simon intended to almost decapitate Hollweg. I don't even think 22 games is enough for what he did. It should be at minimum 15 this year + All playoff games this year, and probably some next year.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Nebkreb @ Mar 11 2007, 06:51 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>apparently, what i said above was afalse report. This one didn't, but cases like Bertuzzi ending Moore's career or McSorley-Brasher

bottomline - he intended to injure another player in a significant manner. he hit him across the chin. 2 inches higher - hollweg is blind1 inch lower - hollweg may be dead, from having his hroat collapsedHollweg and Simon are so lucky that hollweg got a bloody chin, and a "shell-shock" esque reaction
