<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Eagles signed WR Kevin Curtis to a six-year contract.Perfect fit. Andy Reid needed another quality wideout and will know how to use Curtis' speed in a variety of ways. While his potential to be a "number one" receiver is lessened in Philly's spread-the-wealth offense, expect Curtis to start over Hank Baskett and make consistent big plays. It's early, but look for Curtis to be ranked in a packed group of WR3s.</div>
http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/homeNews...il.jsp?id=66194Reggie BrownKevin CurtisHank BaskettJason AvantBethel Johnson..Assuming we cut Greg Lewis and Johnson wins the KR job over Jeremy Bloom. And considering Curtis plays so well in the slot, we may see him causing mis-matches there too. Add Westbrook out of the backfield, LJ Smith (and possibly a solid rookie behind him?), and a bruiser in the backfield, and McNabb shouldn't have trouble picking up where he left off. :beerbang2:
Stallworth couldn't stay on the field. He only played so much for us as it was. Curtis is a fresh body, and isn't on weed either. Not to say he's a better receiver than Stallworth overall, but I still consider it a lateral move with Baskett and Avant hopefully coming to their own and the flexibility and consistancy this should give us.He's going to double Stallworth's numbers next year, and that's something I'll put money on.

I would if I was a betting man.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (JHair @ Mar 15 2007, 04:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I think he meant 2X Stallworths NE numbers but still wont happen, not even close.</div>Yeah, I mean his numbers next season in NE.Quote me and put it in your sig JHair. New England spreads the ball around <u>WAY</u> too much for Stallworth to even get a sniff of 1000 yards, especially this year when they actually have legit weapons all around the offense. I don't see him topping 40, maybe 45 catches for them. However they'll more than likely use him as a deep-threat, so his YPC could be up around 20, padding his yards. But I'll take my chances, because not only will he not see the ball too much but he's more than likely to miss a few games with injury, and the Pats can afford to sit him even if he's questionable and able to play due to their newfound depth at receiver. Curtis actually DOUBLING his numbers is a stretch, but I'm sticking to my guns. I guarantee that he'll at LEAST have better all around numbers, except for maybe YPC.Here's a rough estimate of their numbers:Games | Receptions | Yards | YPC | TouchdownsCurtis:15 | 72 |1100 | 15.2 | 9Stallworth:11 | 38 | 700 | 18.4 | 5And that's being pretty fair if you ask me. I'm just trying not to be overly optimistic at this point, despite the prediction. That's just for fun.And for the record, here are the per-game averages for each player under these circumstances:Receptions | Yards Curtis:4.8 | 73.3 Stallworth:3.4 | 63.6I definitely think Curtis can do better than 73 yards a game for us, while Stallworth will more than likely be around that number.
How can you label him a "slot receiver"???The guy's been in the league for four years, the first of which he was buried and probably shouldn't even be counted. The other three he was behind two guys, I think their names are Issac Bruce and Tory Holt. I'd like to know how 72 catches is anything NEAR unreasonable:In 9 starts in 2005, he had 60 catches. That's 6.6 receptions per start.72 catches in 15 starts would be 4.8 receptions per start, as I said.<u>Starts | Receptions | Receptions Per Start</u>9 | 60 | 6.615 | 72 | 4.8That proportion is already unbalanced, and you're saying it's unreasonable? Not only could I have evened out the proportion, but I could have factored in the fact that he's undoubtedly progressed since 2005, only his second year seeing real NFL action. I would call my predictions MORE than fair. I'm not even being optimistic here at all. Maybe you can take a touchdown or two off of the 9 I predicted, because that IS a bit much, but all of the other numbers have a great chance at being higher.EDIT: I got curious, and figured out that in order to duplicate his 6.6 receptions-per-start average from 2005, Curtis would have to haul in 100 catches in 15 starts. My 72 looks like nothing right now.

What makes you think he isn't? He is a fairly good slot WR because of his speed and quickness, which is exactly why I don't see where either of you can say he should be a#1 or 2 WR. He's a perfect slot guy, but he just won't catch 72.

Yes he was a "slot receiver", but playing the role of one is different than labeling a person as one. He's a legit #2 receiver in the league, possibly more.

God I hate the Eagles. Letting Garcia go was the biggest mistake the franchiese ever made. McNabb is finished, the guy is a walking crutch now. The Eagles will be lucky to win 6 games this year. On the other hand, Curtis was a solid #3 option in St.Louis.
