Scott visited with team officials on Thursday, according to the source.The 6-foot-3, 302-pound Scott is weighing offers from several teams and could come to a decision within the next few days. The Falcons have had discussions with Scott for more than a week, but contract talks did not heat up until the past few days.Atlanta is trying to add depth, youth and talent to its defensive front and Scott would be in the rotation with starting nose tackle Grady Jackson, who was used last season primarily on running downs.Scott, who has played all four seasons with Chicago, has played in at least 14 games the past three seasons and has 95 career tackles.Already this week, the Falcons traded Schaub to the Houston Texas, and Thursday night signed ex-Ravens QB Chris Redman to a one-year deal, according to Redman's agent, Joby Branian. Terms of the contract were not immediately disclosed.Redman, who did not play in the NFL last season, played for Falcons coach Bobby Petrino for one season at the University of Louisville, when Petrino was the head coach.Second-year Georgia product D.J. Shockley is the in-house candidate to take over as Michael Vick's backup.
A decent 3rd string QB, although it seems they're putting all their eggs in the Shockley will be a good backup basket which is probably risky.
Good read. Scott is a decent DT, we need to sign him so we can spend our draft pick on a position more valuable and worthwise than the defensive tackle. Scott can clog up the lanes and can bring pressure to the quarterback better than Jackson.
Scott would be an excellent signing IMO. Him and Jackson could alternate since they both have poor stamina. Then maybe Babineux could play on some passing situations.
