<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>'SKINS MAKING A PLAY FOR BRIGGS?Adam Schefter of NFL Network and Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com report that the Redskins and Bears are contemplating a trade that would send the No. 6 overall pick to Chicago for linebacker Lance Briggs and the No. 31 overall pick in the draft. But didn't the 'Skins learn last year the folly of trying to force a Tampa 2 specialist into Gregg Williams' defense? Though we can't fault Adam Archuleta (one of our sponsors) for taking $10 million guaranteed, the Redskins should have considered more carefully the question of whether the player would fit within the system.Briggs' success possibly is a product of his role as the weakside linebacker in the Tampa 2 defense, which gives him a lot of freedom to roam in open space and make tackles. As the "will" in a traditional 4-3, will he be as effective? It's a big risk for the Redskins to take, in our view. But we have a feeling that owner Dan Snyder (who has been uncharacteristically quiet in free agency) is itching to make a big deal, especially at a time when he's rubbing elbows with his 31 partners/competitors at the NFL's 2007 Annual Meeting.</div>Interesting.Heres the link to the web site.http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm
No doubt Briggs is with a top 5 pick but like the article said, I don't know if he would play really good here.

The thing is, its hard to say you are trading him for a "top pick" because this trade involves the Bears giving up their first rounder

It'd take more then that to make the trade fair.
Like I said, Briggs is definitely a top 5 pick. Chris Mortenson said the Bears are not intersted, but are still talking.
According to the war room draft boards, pick 6 is worth 1,600 points. Pick 31 is 600 points. The 1,000 point difference is equal to the 16th pick. The Skins would be the ones getting the proverbial clump of lint, not the Bears
You are such a homer man. Chasing Big Names for the sake of Chasing Big Names is not going to get you guys anywhere. Fact of the matter is that he is not a need for the Redskins with a Linebacking core of Washington, Fletcher, and Marshall/McIntosh. You don't know if he will be a fit on your defense as a Chicago Runs a Pure Tampa 2 style defense with the best Middle Linebacker in the entire NFL, and the Redskins, well, do not. You have to wonder if he may be a Product of the System due to playing next to Brian Urlacher, and they have much bigger needs, mainly on the Defensive Line. And of course You're going to part with a Top 10 Draft Pick and the chance to have an Impact Lineman (Your biggest need.) for that? It doesn't make much sense.Even Rational Redskins Fans are against this move. - http://www.hogshaven.com/story/2007/3/27/101818/905
A DE in the late 1st round is usually better than a "premier" DE in the top 10.And you're saying Briggs looked good because he played with Urlacher? Well guess what? Washington+Fletcher > Hillenmeyer+Urlacher.

^ hahaha your explanation made me laugh. And like you said, it's about 50%. So you can't say a top 10 pick is worth more than late round pick + a pro-bowl LB if you're going to draft a DE.
