It's not a suprise to me, he's always insisted he would rather be retired then a backup Quarterback somewhere, and I would think he's made plenty enough money in his career so that he never has to worry about that.
He had a good career, he definitely decided to take off at the right time. Backups should be young guns not old farts.

Much like Vinny Testaverde he'll never make the hall despite borderline numbers.
