Larry Johnson had 416 carries last year. He is doomed. His top level Offensive linemen have left him over the past two years. He is doomed. Herm Edwards is his head coach. And he is doomed.Larry had 416 carries last year, most ever in NFL History. And looking at NFL History, lets look at the top 10 before him.1. Jamal Anderson - 410 - Suffered major injury and only played 2 games the following year.2. James Wilder - 407 - Had 1 more good year before injury after injury destroyed his carrer.3. Eric Dickerson - 404 - Missed 20 games over the next two years due to injury.4. Eddie George - 403 - Healthy for the remainder of his career, but never had higher than 3.4 YPC.5. Gerald Riggs - 397 - Had 1 good season before suffering multiple injuries that destroyed the rest of his career.6. Terrell Davis - 392 - Career ended by injuries starting the year after.6. Ricky Williams - 392 - Due to drug use, hasn't played two more seasons so it's impossible to judge.8. Ben Foster - 390 - Career ended by injuries starting the following year.8. Eric Dickerson - 390 - Was his rookie year, and managed to miss only 2 games over the next two years.10. Eric Dickerson - 388 - Was injured every year for the rest of his career and was never the same again.Setting aside Eric Dickerson's rookie year, and Ricky Williams not getting a decision one way or another due to drug use and "retirement," everyone suffered a major injury within the next two seasons. While Dickerson was able to return and be a work horse again, he was injured again. With Herm Edwards as a head coach, there will be no letting up either. He is famous in New York for rushing the ball on 3rd and 10 multiple times in the same game. He ran Curtis Martin into the ground, and now it's Larry's turn. Will Shields is gone, and he's not going to be replaced by a high draft pick. Herm is the coach who once said that it was a "waste" to spend a high draft pick on an offensive Lineman. With the best remaining O-lineman either 33 years old, or a Miami Dolphins cast off, things aren't getting any better. He will never have the line in front of him he used to have, and will take even more punishing hits.Larry Johnson is doomed.
I had this debate on here a few months ago with i think Brooksie, but yeah. History says he's pretty much screwed. The Human Body has proven it cannot handle such an extreme workload, and normally the problems from it begin the following season. Thank you Herm for leaving the Jets.
Superstition doesn't work for me. He may have a small injury that will put him out for a week or two at most as I see it.

The Human Body suffers alot of damage after such an extreme workload that in most cases never heals. Of course it affects some people differently, where few players (Erik Dickerson) can manage to withstand such an extreme workload, but with the heavy majority of cases (Jamal Anderson, Eddie George, Terrell Davis, James Wilder, Ben Foster, Curtis Martin) players often drastically lose effectiveness on the playing field, or suffer significant injuries in following seasons because of the damage already done. The same principles are in baseball as well, which is known as the Year-After Effect there (Because the effects aren't actually shown until the Year After the heavy workload). Young Pitchers who pitch more then 30 innings more then their previous professional high leave themselves at risk for future injury because the Human Body cannot withstand such a drastic increase of their workload. Which by the way has already claimed Chien-Ming Wang and Jered Weaver to trips to the disabled list this year.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>He shows no signs of that last year.</div>Did you watch his playoff game?
