I was very impressed with the job that Atlanta did.Atlanta Rd Sel# Player Pos. Ht. Wt. School 1 8 Anderson, Jamaal DE 6-6 279 Arkansas 2 39 Blalock, Justin OT 6-4 329 Texas 2 41 Houston, Chris CB 5-11 185 Arkansas 3 75 Robinson, Laurent WR 6-1 193 Illinois State They weren't left with much to choose from in the First Round and made the best choice in my eyes in Anderson, then rebounded with 3 great values in the Second Round as those guys were projected first round picks. In the Third Round I think they slightly reached on Robinson, but the second round really makes this draft. Now if only they had a QB. :whistling:
They could've got a better receiver than that... but getting Chris Houston was sick. I thought the Cardinals got a huge steal with Branch in the 2nd round. And they liked Levi Brown a lot. Those two both have the potnetial to be a pro-bowlerI really like what the Raiders did too with Russell and Miller. No doubt they will look for offensive line and some defensive line on day 2.And let's not forget the 49ers. Getting by far the best LB in the draft and perhaps the 3rd best o-lineman in Staley (only behind Thomas and Brown)...And you gotta love the Millen and the Lions showing their guts. They took the best prospect I've ever seen (I've been watching football for 3-4 years), AND they get a great QB.Browns obviously had the best though... come on... Landing 2 of the top 5 players?

Not a good day for them besides CJ and Stanton. The other 2 absolute horrible draft picks for them.

One of the reasons Atlanta's draft was so good was because they stayed where they were and still got great value. Arizona also comes close because they didn't give up much to move up for Branch though.
Arizona and Carolina had great first days IMO. Reached on Brown a bit, but had to and stole Branch and Davis in the second and third. People question how Davis can fit in a 3-4, but I had him going to New England in the FIRST for a while a month or two ago so I'm agreeing with their train of thought.Gotta love Carolina getting Charles Johnson in the third, grabbing Kalil half a round later than he should have gone, and improvising with no DBs on the board in round 1 and addressing their LB situation with Beason. They need to grab a safety early on day two to make it complete, but I like what they did today. And Venom, I know you want to stay optimistic, but the Jets did a great job today aswell.Honerable mentions to Oakland and Detroit. I'd say San Francisco and Cleveland here too, but the fact that they gave up first rounders next year hurts (even though I guess it really shouldnt factor into grading their day today, should it?)..Especially when San Francisco set up New England to continue their draft success
i cant see the 49ers draft pick next year really being all that great, i mean, like, i can see it being in the low 20s, so, i really like what they did today, nice job nolan and crew
In no specific order, these are the drafts I really like:AtlantaSt. LouisCarolinaMinnesotaIndianapolisNew York Jets

He's likely going to turn into a top tier all around DE like Shaun Ellis in the NFL. He can do just about everything. 4-3 DE, 3-4 DE, or even 4-3 DT. So no matter what changes the team goes through, he can handle them. They added Brian Leonard who is a HB/FB/H-B/TE/whatever. He can run block, he can run the ball, he can catch passes. He has a little trouble with his pass blocking, but that's nothing he can't work on. He's willing to do anything the team asks him and is so versitile the team can make him an even better version of Chris Cooley in Washington. They mentioned wanting to rest Jackson without losing much on the run game which they can do now, and going to a pro back set. He just makes the offense a lot more versitile.Jonathon Wade in the third wasn't a bad pickup either. He had a 2nd round grade and upgrades the depth at CB and may eventually push for a starting spot. He's a bit raw, but he runs a 4.3 and has good natural abilities. Him and Ronald Bartell Jr. are great physical guys, and when Bartell moves up to the 2nd spot, Wade should be able to move to the nickle spot and along with Tye Hill yall will have three good corners with lots of speed. It was a good first day.

A force against the run, but a so-so pass rusher. Then again, you don't need him to get 10 sacks to make a huge impact, very similar to Richard Seymour in that aspect.2 52 Leonard, Brian FB 6-1 238 Rutgers - My favorite, great reciever, great runner, good blocker, could either start at Fullback, or backup Jackson at Runningback, or do both. Plenty capable of getting 150 touches between Rushing and Recieving, if not more.Plus, who else can do this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TN0WRV7aZw3 84 Wade, Jonathan CB 5-10 192 Tennessee - Decent Nickleback. Don't expect him to become a starter personally.5 139 Fry, Dustin C 6-2 326 Clemson - Probably a backup Lineman.
I like the Panthers 1st day.Beason, Jarrett, Kalil, and Johnson. All can be starters for the team for the next 5 years at least.
I would say that Atlanta's day one only if we exclude Laurent Robinson. He's not worth the third round pick. If we wanted to go with a receiver in the third round that early, we could of at least went after someone like Paul Williams or someone more of a deep threat. Or we could of drafted a power running back like Michael Bush or Dwayne Wright (reach).I'd have to go with Cleveland. Their first round makes the draft for them. If Oakland would of been smart enough to go with Calvin Johnson, and then traded a few late round picks and some seconds to Dallas to get Quinn, they would of looked like geniuses. But they didn't.I think Cleveland had a brilliant draft plan. They got one of the best tackles to come out of the draft in a while, and then they got arguably the best quarterback to come out of the draft this year. I would be a very happy with myself if I was a CLE fan.

If you want a deep threat, Robinson is exactly that.
Oops. My apologies. I honestly thought that this man wasn't good at all. Now that you've posted that, I feel a lot better with Laurent Robinson. He has great hands, and according to you, excellent speed. Third/Fourth string receiver for Atlanta?Anyways, I still think Robinson's a bit of a reach. But I feel a lot more content that he's not just a receiver who just catches all the catchable passes and does nothing more.

If the Jets didn't trade up, I would have been happy with them taking him with their late 2nd. He WAS my number 1 sleeper, but now that his success is tied to Vick's accuracy, I don't know....And Cleveland didn't have a brilliant draft plan. They saw that Quinn was dropping (Cam Cameron of the Dolphins even admitted they didn't have Quinn as a top 20 prospect) and paid a high price to get him. Was he worth it? Maybe maybe not, but it wasn't anything brilliant, and you'll realize that when the 6th pick overall is going to someone else next season.
