<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>May 16, 2007 -- The Mets issued a statement last night condemning a song from a record company that, according to the company's Web site, is co-founded by Lastings Milledge and features him on the track. The song, "Bend Ya Knees" by Manny D featuring L Millz, has lyrics ripe with vulgarity, demeaning references to women, explicit sexual content and multiple uses of the n-word.The Mets statement said, "We disapprove of the content, language and message of this recording, which does not represent the views of the New York Mets." GM Omar Minaya later added that he was "looking into it."On the Web site, there is a description of Manny D, and Milledge's name is mentioned as "an old friend from junior high school." It says Milledge is the co-founder of Soulja-Boi Records and the manager of Manny D. There are also photos of Milledge, who is on the disabled list with a sprained ligament in his right foot.It says Manny D "has goals of forming his own foundation for kids that aren't fortunate enough to have a role model in their lives." The site also says Manny Ds "greatest goal is to create positive music."*Orlando Hernandez (shoulder bursitis) threw approximately 60 pitches in a simulated game yesterday, according to Willie Randolph. Hernandez may not need to pitch in minor league rehab games before he returns to the Mets. Randolph said the veteran righty would "probably just do simulated games until he gets his pitch count up." According to Minaya, El Duque could potentially require one other simulated game or no further simulated games before he returns to the Mets. The Mets filled Herenandez's spot with Jorge Sosa, and Jason Vargas likely will start tomorrow, since Mike Pelfrey was demoted to Triple-A. After that, the Mets don't need a fifth starter until next Saturday. That could mean Hernandez could pitch in a simulated game Sunday, then return to the Mets next Saturday.*The Mets may know today if Moises Alou, who has a pulled left quad, will head to the DL. Yesterday Alou said through a Mets spokesman that he had improved mildly but that he was "a little bit more than day to day."*Minaya said "all the reports were fine" on Guillermo Mota's first minor-league outing on Monday night. Mota pitched a scoreless inning for Triple-A New Orleans, allowing one hit. . . . Carlos Beltran, whose left quad was sore last week, said he's improved, and he felt a difference on Monday. . . . The Mets traded for Jake Gautreau, a minor-league infielder, getting him from Cleveland for a player to be named later or cash.</div>You'll probably just say "Oh, it's just a song, who cares." But you wouldn't say that about Greg Olsen...
I'm not going to downplay this one, because there is no excuse for Milledge.Lastings Milledge is a fool who is completely immature and has no clue what it takes to be a Major League Player. The problem with Milledge is he is always doing something stupid, if it was an isolated incident maybe I could let it slide, but he has a track record of similar immature behavior and irresponsible actions. I wish the Mets would trade him already....I'm sick of hearing about him. And he's not even needed long-term anyways as we still have 2 Top Outfield Prospects without him in Carlos Gomez and Fernando Martinez to go along with Carlos Beltran.

But still, classless, thoughtless, immature lyrics.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Nebkreb @ May 16 2007, 06:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>not to mention - those are terrible rhymes - there seems to be no rhythm or apparent rhyme.</div>Can't say I disagree. I just want the Mets to get Milledge healthy, get him on the field, let him play and showcase his natural talent to rebuild his trade value, and then ship him off by the Trade Deadline.
