Ehh, the article makes valid points but it's all a giant stretch. Movie does test the limits of a kids movie but not to the point I wouldn't recommend it to children (despite the fact it was a really bad movie). To parallel this... a lot of kids experience emotional trauma but not all of them become serial killers.

That nowadays kids movies are all one big anti-cultural norm.... which is now a cultural norm in itself. The entirety of the movies is to set up a past cultural norm, knock it down, and repeat. There is nothing but parody anymore, and most kids haven't seen what the movies are mocking and therefore are just being taught that the Shrek line of thinking is THE line of thinking. And while seeing girls kick a little butt rather than be rescued by a prince might not be such a bad thing, in the process the kids have lost the sense of wonder, magic, and amazement that once went along with fairy tales and are instead being taught to be skeptical and cynical. Something that is probably better left till their a bit older. Why do we want a bunch of 3 year old cynics running around, instead of allowing them the magic of childhood?</div>You scare me...

What Vilma issss right about is that all the shit they come out with for kids these days is garbage compared to the good old stuff. I still can't believe my eyes when I flip over to the Disney Channel these days or Nickelodeon, or see what movies are playing for kids in the previews.
