<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>(June 4, 2007) -- Tank Johnson of the Chicago Bears has been suspended without pay for the first eight games of the regular season for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, the NFL announced.Johnson is eligible to participate in the Bears' offseason workout program, training camp and preseason games before the suspension begins after the team's final preseason game. In a letter to Johnson, Commissioner Roger Goodell said he would be prepared to reduce the suspension to the first six regular-season games if Johnson meets certain conditions. The conditions for Johnson include:? No further adverse involvement with law enforcement and full compliance with any requirements imposed by a court.? Compliance with all league requirements, including counseling.? No participation in any practices or other organized team activities during the period of the eight-game suspension. (During the suspension, he may be at the Bears' facility for counseling sessions and other approved activities such as physical treatment or individual workout sessions.)</div>http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/CHI/10212452It looks like, as of now, they'll have to go with the inexperienced Antonio Garay at the DT position to start the season.

A bit harsh, he already served a 1 game suspension last year by the Bears and served time in Jail. Regardless, it's nice to see Goodell laying down the hammer.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>He called the commissioner "a fair man" and added: "One day I want to be the face of the league for guys who have come through adversity, came through it and ultimately became the Man of the Year in the NFL. That would be a tremendous ending to the story."</div>He's sucking it up and taking his licks, he knows he deserves the suspension. Good thing he realizes he still can turn his situation around--looking at this in the right light.

I think he should have gotten a full season considering he went to jail while Pacman hasn't...

Then again, Pac Man probably was able to avoid jail because he is a bigger name in the league. Sean Taylor should probably be in jail right now, too.
