<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>In a move that seemed almost inevitable after an offseason of searching for upgrades at the position, the Rams traded defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy to the Denver Broncos for an undisclosed draft choice (believed to be a sixth-rounder) on Friday afternoon.?We want to thank Jimmy for the contributions he made during his time here,? Rams coach Scott Linehan said. ?After evaluating the young players we?ve brought in the last month and talking to our defensive coaching staff we felt the time was right to make this move.?The deal brings to an end a four-year career in St. Louis for Kennedy, a tenure plagued by injuries and inconsistency at both defensive tackle positions. In his four seasons in the NFL, Kennedy spent time at the ?three technique? position before being moved to the nose tackle position before the 2006 season. The Rams drafted Kennedy with the 12th overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft.Injury issues cropped up in his first two seasons as Kennedy missed the first seven games of the 2004 season with a foot injury. After struggling to get on the field as a rookie, Kennedy never really felt comfortable and couldn?t find his place on the team. He also played through a sports hernia in 2005 and through a broken hand in 2006.All told, Kennedy compiled 90 tackles, four sacks and two fumble recoveries in 53 games. The writing appeared on the wall this offseason as the Rams drafted three defensive tackles and flirted with signing veteran Sam Adams and trading for Kris Jenkins.First-round draft choice Adam Carriker could get the majority of his action as the nose tackle in Kennedy?s old spot. The team also used a fifth-round choice on Clifton Ryan and a seventh-round selection on Keith Jackson. That duo is expected to compete for a roster spot behind Carriker, veteran La?Roi Glover and second-year prospect Claude Wroten.</div>http://www.stlouisrams.com/article/61618/I guess we needed to give him away at some point in time. He was just taking up salary.

Broncos seem to like the 'bring in so much crap and see what sticks' philosophy.
