<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>If the Wizards hope to keep Gilbert Arenas past next season, they'll have to ante up.Washington's outspoken star told two Washington-area newspapers that he plans to opt out of his contract after next season. Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Arenas can sign a more lucrative extension if he were to opt out of the six-year, $65 million contract that he signed in 2003 than if he simply added years to the existing deal."To me, it's just a smarter business decision to play next season, opt out and then be able to sign a long-term deal that is going to keep me in one place," Arenas said, according to The Washington Post.Arenas said that he will act as his own agent, and at least at this point, he's not seeking to leave the Wizards."I'm not looking at anything else. It's just business. If something happens where they don't want me or they're going in a different direction, I can look elsewhere. But my intentions are not to leave," Arenas said, according to The Post. However, he told The Washington Times that he will gauge other teams' interest."I'm going to opt out and consider some other teams next year," Arenas told The Times. "I want to test the market and test my value."Arenas finished third in the league in scoring this season, averaging 28.4 points, and helped the Wizards reach the playoffs for the third straight year. But he missed the postseason after having knee surgery April 5.He scored 30 or more points in 35 games and 50 or more points in three, including a franchise-record 60 against the Los Angeles Lakers in December.</div>Plans to stay but some team will have more cash to offer than the Wiz and he'll probably bolt imo.

You can't sit here and tell me Jamison and Butler can't move a team at all.</div>He'll tell you that as soon as Arenas signs elsewheres..... :whistling: But he was pretty much right. Washington without Arenas isn't making the Playoffs (And thus a lottery pick team). Jamison and Butler are good pieces, but not enough.
He's not going anywhere, it's just a smart business move on his part. Washington can/will offer him just as much as anybody else can/will. If they can maybe pick up a solid big man in the off-season, and stay healthy, they should have a decent shot in the East next year.
Thing is... if Washington goes nowhere again and a contender offers a lot of cash to Gilbert, will he really pass up a title and cash to stay in Washington?
Yeah since Washington can easily make it to the Finals if the Cavs did (whom the WIzards would've beat if they had Gil and Caron)

Both allstars getting injured?</div>Washington wasn't as good a team as Cleveland (Or should I say Lebron and Scrubs), even with both of them healthy....hell, they lost to Cleveland in the 06 Playoffs in 6, and LeBron is much better now then he was then.
^^^ Basically covered it.Even if they got past the Cavs, the Pistons, Bulls, Heat would have crushed them.
The Wizards had a lead in the 4th quarter in every game of the Cavs series and ended up losing by like five. 1, with Gilbert and and Caron they would've had a lead throughout the whole game. 2, with Gilbert on the court it's hard not to keep a lead. 3, Caron is the wizards best all-around defender. And the Wizards are a much better team than they were last year. In the 2nd round, the Wizards would've played the Nets. Enough said.In the Finals, the Wizards would've played their bitches, AKA Pistons. The Wizards in the last two years are like, what, 7-1 against them?

Are you retarded or something?Because the past matters when it comes to the playoffs...
Gilbert Arenas is jackass. Enough said.God, I can't make a living on $11mill a year, so, I need to do whats best for my family and make $20mill.God. Jackass.
