I don't like the rule cause I think if you're given a 12 minute limit, anything in your stomach, not including your mouth, should count, but it makes sense. Like other sports, as long as the play or ball is released before the buzzer sounds, if it scores, it counts. But then again, when you stuff so much food in your mouth, it takes like 15-20 seconds to digest it which is running WAAAAAY past the clock.

In this case if the food is put in the mouth before the clock runs out it counts (Assuming he swallows it). It's pretty much the same thing.
