http://kotaku.com/gaming/rumor/playstation...5-275391.php%22That kicks ass. I'm getting a job soon so now I don't have to save up as much for it.
It's probably time with E3 coming up. But HDTVs are still $2000+ (that is if you want a good one) and 7.1 surround sound is still $300 upward (low end Sanyo WITH speakers! [best deal you'll get]; some 7.1 receivers are 1000 themselves without speakers)... so it cuts 100 off a bit of the $3000 upward you still need to pay. My parents did it but a price cut of just the PS3 doesn't change much for the install base except for maybe those that already own 1080p TV. Will a $100 price slash justify someone spending a few more thousand? A PS3 without the HD screen is simply a PS2 that plays PS3 games. I thought it didn't make a difference until I hooked up the HDMI.Btw, they're also giving away 5 free Blu-ray movies from a select list. Great deal if any of you own an HDTV.

I will say though that anybody looking to buy a Blu-Ray player should just get a PS3 though. Their price can't be beat...
I'll probably get the ps3 when it get slashed down another hundred or so (hopefully) by next christmas..

I had my PS3 in my room with my older TV and the graphics were a ton better than the PS2. I used to watch DVD's on them that looked almost high def, if not equal to. Games were perfectly fine, they just didn't have as high quality as an HDTV.
Of course, your PS3 would make DVDs look better. The PS3 upconverts now. It's like having an upconverting DVD player hooked up to a normal TV, which I still have hooked up to the old TV downstairs.
Capt Comeback I know you have a 360 (or had one).. In my basement I have on old TV. Would 360 graphics be better than PS2?
I'll end up getting one eventually, price cut or not, but the thing is that it's still a good bit of money for something no one truely needs. I'll get one when I have the money to burn and nothing to burn it on (like a trip to Vegas, which I'd gladly trade my 360 for another one of those).
