i'm very curious about everyones opinion on this...

first off let me say that i'm no real fan of Barry Bonds i think he probably took steriods and his attitude to pretty much the general public sucks and doesnt help his image at all

but that being said I think that if i was at Petco Park yesterday and he hit his 755th i would have cheered for him or at least clapped for him along with the others giving him a standing ovation. the only reason i would is because i appreciate the history of it, what a terrible thing it would be if he was completely booed after breaking probably the greatest record in baseball maybe sports. so yes i would have clapped and cheered because i think its the right, respectful thing to do... respectful to baseball and Hank Aaron and everyone who played it, not only Barry Bonds.

what about anyone else would you cheer for Bonds if you were there yesterday?

When Bonds took what he took, they werent illigal in baseball, and therefore, he didnt cheat....you cant break a rule if it doesnt exist....so i would cheer for him, if i was there....

    Maybe you're right...

But I still couldn't cheer for him.

I have no reason to dislike the guy.

He's played a lot of years at a very high level. He's surely hanging on beyond when he should have retired to break this record.

Steroids might help a football player on every play, but in baseball you still have to hit the ball - a feat that is pretty amazing in the first place.

Exactly. He didn't know he was cheating.

Cheating or not, not many other players can reach that record so yes I would cheer if I was there. It's a record after all.

And shame on Selig for not clapping. Hater.

I concur w/ Beef that it wasn't illegal at the time, so...

I did cheer last night when he hit 755.

Selig is an idiot (& I'm being nice). His feigned indifference is annoying. This is the man who let the All-Star game end in a tie.

What I find funny is the media loved McGwire & Sosa. Yet, Barry is a far more complete player. Just because, MM & SS are more charismatic and friendly does not mean they should get better spin I mean coverage from the media.
