I think in the minors this year he has over 130Ks in less than 90 innings. They were some crazy numbers.
-Petey

He's got a good slider too.
Can't wait for him to develope a third this offseason.
Imagine him working with Edwar, and him teaching Joba his change.
Sick, just sick.
Or Clemens showing him his split.
Or Rivera and the cut.

Or all of them

Joba has some nasty stuff.
87 mph slider.
Myers can't even throw a fastball that hard.
Struck 1st batter.
Walked a batter, gave up a bloop single.
Kid is nasty.
I think it's hard to pick up the speed as his motion is so compact. And it's not a large exaggerated windup.
-Petey

Joba is a great story. Native american. His father was a single parent, but paralyzed on 1 side of his body, so caught with Joba as a kid w/ one hand.
So Joba wanted to get a signing bonus to buy his dad everything he wants.
-Petey

Looks like a repeat in the 9th.
Strikes out the 1st batter.
2nd batter walks.
His slider is nasty, twice a batter has tried to pull back and had it called for a strike for going too far.
DP to end the game, Yankees win 9-2.
-Petey

You took that all from the broadcast

Seriously, his slider is nasty.
I'd worry more about that than his fastball.
Now he just needs to learn a low 80s straight change, and he'll be amazing.

Santana () - Wang (has 1/2 stuff, pitching 2nd) - Hughs(has 1/2 stuff, pitching 3rd)- Chamberlain (has 2 stuff, pitching 4th - Kennedy (has #3 stuff, pitching 5)
With an outfield of Tabata, Action Jackson, and Melky, we're set there too.
And if Eric Duncan ever pans out...

Our farm is STACKED.

MLB hitters were looking overmatched. He was just wild.
-Petey

First game at home, scoreless inning, 2 strikeouts.
Since being called out, 4 innings, 8 strikeouts, hasn't allowed a run.
-Petey

Damn
8 of his 20 outs have been via the K

Damn!

I was listening to radio couple days ago (weei), and they started talking about how the yankees are doing, and then they started talking about a young pitcher named joba chamberlain, and that they've heard good things about him. Immediately I said to myself, could this be same joba I had in class, lol. And just now I checked the wikipedia and yep it's him. I lived in lincoln, ne before (from 99 to end of 05) and the last year I went to UNL, and in the english class Joba sat to the left of me, haha, funny guy. we even did a project together, with four other guys for the class. we would make fun of him how big he was.
Now I can say I know a famous athlete.

QUOTE (mynetsforlife)

That's awesome.
How'd you not know he was a yankee?
He was the Ace of your STaff.

Yea, haha, I didn't know, since I follow the redsox more, now that I live here in Mass.

But just because of Joba, I'll have to root for the Yanks.

He's such a beast.
Having that great of control with 100 mph fastballs, and a 90mph SLIDER with that kind of movement?
Rediculous.
