I think the most valuable move by the raptors this offseason was keeping Calderon. I know you guys might go off on this, BUT Calderon could be one of our most valuable if not the most valuable backup. He compliments Ford so well and Ford compliments him. He showed his value in the Playoffs and stepped up real amazing. Im so glad we kept him.

Could be. I'm fine going into the season with Calderon and Ford. It didin't sound like there where many offers for him this season or maybe BC just took him off the market completely (which isn't to say I think BC was shopping him).

I actually heard around half the teams in the NBA inquired about this guy. We were going to ship him off to the hawks. Real glad we didnt.

I say maybe, its always better to move a player a year early than a year late.

As of now, Calderon is clearly a starting pg in the league and only a matter of time before he wants that responsiblity from Toronto or some other team willing to pay him more. Or he could be one of many bench players who look better than they actually are. Can't find a faul in keeping him though, TJ and Calderon are a deadly combo at the point.

Starters are obviously key, but quality guys on the bench who can contribute in more ways than one are also key. The raps made a remarkable turnaround in a short time, and I think they're the real deal.

I'm hoping that Colangelo can get Calderon signed to a new contract before the summer is through. That would be tremendous.

As for him wanting his own team, he has suggested that if he wasn't playing for Toronto, he'd rather be playing pro ball in Spain. I don't think he is interested in another NBA team, besides maybe Memphis.

As long as Garbajosa is here Calderon is staying put in Toronto unless Colangelo deals him but I would rather keep him

And really, if last year was any indicator, Jose will get plenty of chances to run the team during crucial moments.

I would have to agree aswell, keeping Calderon is a big move. Many teams have been after him this offseason, but BC has not taken one yet. Calderon has a big impact on our games, and is a key to our sucuess. Keeping Calderon is deffenitly a very big move.

It is such a great luxury to have 2 great PG, there is basically no drop off in talent when one replaces the other. Just to think a couple years ago milt palacio was running our PG positon...thank god those days are over!

How do we know this? There's a big diff between making a call to see if a guy can be had for cheap and putting together a serious offer for a trade.
