Coach Randy Wittman said he wants to play Foye off the ball more. That leaves Telfair as the only other guy able to play the point, considering Marko Jaric lost the spot 2 years ago. "It's all up to Sebastian," Wittman said. "The opportunity is there."
You probably won't have to worry about that High54Life. You see, Telfair will actually have to play well to keep the starting point guard job and thechances of thatare very slim.
I think the odds are against Telfair starting more than an handful of games. I would like to see Foye off the ball more, but he is more important at PG than he is at SG right now.
wow. there's a very slim chance that he'll actually put it all together, but i think he could do it. if he works hard, stays out of trouble, and commits himself, i'm sure he can do it.
...
....
.....
almost had ya there, didn't i

Who else is there? I like Foye, but I wouldn't want most of his PT to come at PG. I'd try to keep Jaric on the bench as much as possible as well. I don't see many other options.
What do you think of Randy Wittman as a coach? Telfair hasn't had very good coaches so far and I'm not ready to give up on him until he gets a good coach for more than one season. I think it would have been fun to have seen what he could have done under Pitino.
Wittman's only quality as a coach is that he is good at developing young guys. So I'm hoping he is in the right situation right now. I am still not confident that of what Telfair is going to do for us. I love this quote on him I read in the paper. It said something like:"I needed to get away from the distractions in New York, so I moved to Las Vegas."
I don't know if this means he'll start, I think it just means he may see significant minutes unless he blows it. I think he's going to have a solid year, though honestly. If Wittman let's this team sort of freestyle it, Bassy will surprise some people.

u can sign somebody off the d-league and, he'd be more productive than Telfair.

hopefully he starts to realize his potiental, I'd like to see him suceed.

Telfair has been in this situation the past three seasons. He's failed every single time, IMO this is Telfair's last chance to prove himself, he's got to start producing at the 1 and take advantage of this oppurtunity because there probably won't be anymore for him.

(just a thought)

In Portland, McMillian obviously runs very structured sets, and Bassy thrives in the up-tempo game. In Boston, we ran a style to his liking from preseason to the end of November, but then realized that an up-tempo system might not have been best with Pierce, Wally, and Big Al in there. Paul will run if he has to, but Wally won't and obviously you need to feed Al in the post. Then, we went with Delonte, who fit our new style better. We went away from an offense called "random," which basically put the ball in Bassy's hands and let him create on his own (which he can do, by the way. He's much more of a true point guard than some people give him credit for.). Then Rondo emerged, and it was over for Bassy in Boston.
In Minnesota, they have no expectations as a team, they don't have a "get in your face" coach like Doc, and he'll be around young players. I'm not trying to say that he hasn't been a disappointment thus far, but all I'm saying is that he's only 22. He still has talent, and he still has a chance to succeed. I agree that this opportunity in Minnesota is HUGE for his career, though. He needs to step up NOW, and I personally believe that he'll do a solid job.
I can't wait to see him on October 10 when we play Minnesota in London.

If Foye plays point, Jaric (if he returns to form) would be the perfect backcourt mate for him. He can take over ballhandling duties while Foye plays off the ball, and guard opposing 2's on the other end. A backcourt of Foye/Telfair is going to be exploited in the worst way on the defensive end, especially since Telfair is a turnstile.
I agree that Telfair may not have had the best chances to succeed in the right system, after all it took Billups several teams before he found a place in the league and now he's one of the best. I'm just not sold on his maturity and drive yet. He's done a lot of work in the offseason though I hear and this may be a breakout year for him.

I'll tell ya, Bassy looked pretty good on Wednesday. He definitely toned his body, looks to have an improved jumper (based on what I saw and have heard), handled Rondo's pressure much better than I anticipated, and was outstanding with the drive-and-kick. He has a knack for finding open guys, and he gets them the ball quickly. It was nice to see him attack on Wednesday, move the ball beautifully, and limit his mistakes (although he did make a couple). He's going to have a solid year, as I've said all summer. I hope he can continue to progress.
