We have 2.5 million in extra cap space thanks to the Castillo deal and Cirillo being claimed off waivers by Arizona, what do they plan to do with that? The three things Ican come up with are:
1)Pick up a bat off waivers
2)Make room to keep what will be an enormous contract for Johan
3)Sign a free agent this offseason

I didn't mean to write that. I meant we saved 2.5 mil from our payroll. I was just in NBA mode for a second

QUOTE (Kid Chocolate)

There is no cap in baseball...
There is when you live in Minnesota.
Probably throw it at Santana or put up a feeble attempt to keep Torii. Don't forget the Twins dumped another mil or so with the trade of Ramon Ortiz to the Rockies for a 25 yr/o .300 hitting utility infielder. Its a shame we have the Pohlad bunch running the team.
I can't completely blame Carl, because I swear he's been dead for two+ years. His sons are running the team, and perhaps running them into the ground. They'll keep saying that the budget will expand once the new stadium is built, and I'm not buying that bullshit for a second.
Even with the loads of young talent on the Twins, I fear that if they aren't sold within the next five or so years, they'll be run into the ground. But hey, at least they have Terry Ryan and not that dumbass McHale behind the wheel.
Also Tim, how are you liking Casilla? I feel like he manufactures more runs than Castillo with his ability to steal bases. He's definitely not the caliber hitter of Luis, but I think he's coming around alright. He sure is fun to watch though.

I agree. He has played very well and has made some nice plays in the field. I still would have liked to see Castillo stay but I am more than satisfied by the way Casilla is playing.
