You know what, I've gained some respect for this team.

As a life long Jays fan I'm sworn to hate the Yanks but this season has made me almost root for them. The Yanks have had as bad as injury woes as the Jays, yet I don't think I've heard Torre or Cashman use that as an excuse.

Back when O'Neil and Wiliams dominated it was tough not to appreciate the team because even though they where well compensated, they fought and found ways to win. Now we've got Jeter, Mastui, Damon and Posada all players I enjoy watching. It's too bad for Clemens and A-Hole because they make a good team seem bad.

You can never count the Yanks out and you know they've got a hot streak in them. They are coached by the best in the biz and payroll be damned, this team performs.

If only Torre knew how to manage his bullpen, I'd agree with you [IMG]

Seriously, thank god we sent Proctor away to the Dodgers, his arm would have fallen off by the time he was 32.

its nice to jump on the Yankees bandwagon right now after this great hot streak they are on but keep in mind that they have probably had the easiest schedule after the Allstar break in the entire league

going thru the teams: Tampa Bay, Toronto, Tampa Bay, Kansas City, Baltimore, Chicago WS, Kansas City, Toronto

the only team that is over .500 from that list is Toronto and they are only two games over

meanwhile the Red Sox are playing the Angels, the Mariners, and Cleveland mixed in with other teams

so i'm just making a point that it seems to me that this hot streak is a mix between a good team getting hot and the product of a very weak schedule. Lets see what happens when the Yankees have to play some of the best teams in the AL, i think they will come back to earth a little and the Red Sox will again pull away with the division lead making it a lot less closer than 5 games (which is a pretty big lead anyway)

Torre has more issues than that as a manager.

Yes, like his ability to have ARod bat 8th (good) but not put Damon on the DL.

He's too soft, but bullpen management is his worst.

Yankees also had one of the toughest schedules pre allstar break

One sec, let me get the XWL.

We should be tied with the Sox if we had decent luck (and the Sox had a bit better luck).

Torre makes at least a move a week that has me scratching my head, or wanting to punch a wall.

My favorite move of his is when he sits our better bat in favor of a pitching matchup, but will then call in the guy off the bench even if the starter is still in.

IE. He sat Abrue against Oliver Perez. Then Perez is throwing up a gem where the only run he allowed was by a Matsui homer.

So the Mets are up, and he summons Abrue. Now if he's your best bat for that slot, and when you need a run, why sit him? Don't need runs early?

Vernan Wells has been a bust so far since he signed that hugge contract. This year, the Jays MVP's have been Alex Rios and Aaron Hill. The rest of the team, well meh. This year has been quite disipointing...But there has been some good high points tho...
