Sorry to report. He just committed to LSU today</p> link</p> One of the LSU football programs top targets at a position of need gave his verbal commitment to Les Miles this weekend after an exceptional official visit. Florida blue-chip quarterback D.C. Jefferson (6-5, 240, 4.7) of Winter Haven, Florida was a soft verbal commitment to Rutgers but after this weekend he is now firm to LSU. "It went great, I had a lot of fun," Jefferson said. "It was really great to experience the crowd and how crazy it was at the game. Yes sir, I did commit to LSU."</p>
All the more important to go after Savage with all we have next year. Good thing he already has a good relationship with the RU staff. He's been to multiple games so far this year, including the win against South Florida.</p> And FWIW, this DC saga might be far from over. It'll be a battle to the end.</p> </p>
Also, Wayne Warren has committed. He's from Maryland and will most likely be playing CB or S. This class is looking like it will finish strong.</p>
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (GMJigga)</div><div class='quotemain'></p> I don't follow Rutgers recruiting that intensely. Do we have an heir to Rice?</p> </div></p> We're recruiting a kid named Ryan Williams from Virginia. He's an absolute stud and would instantly start if Rice leaves for the NFL (which I think he will). He's essentially down to Va Tech, Rutgers, and Boston College with Maryland having a really slim chance. He just visited Va Tech this weekend and will be taking officials to both Rutgers and BC. He'll be announcing at the Army AA game on Jan 5. I honestly have no idea where he is leaning, but my personal opinion is that it's us or Va Tech. He was born in New York, and would like to attend a city-like campus, so both of those facts help out RU I guess. If we don't get him, I'm sure a combo of Mason Robinson/Kordell Young/Jourdan Brooks will be quite good. Brooks is going to be a beast at fullback (250 lbs with 4.5 40 speed!).</p> </p>
This explains why DC committed to LSU. I guess the rumors of his coach pressuring him into switching to a powerhouse like LSU were true. This also confirms that DC has really always been interested in Rutgers. He must have verballed to LSU just to get his coach off his back during the season, and now that the season is finally over, DC committed back to Rutgers.</p> Also, the last two entries of Aditi's blog are good reads to understand the whole situation, as well as her article in The Record.</p> </p> It seems as if DC is really firm on his commitment now.</p>
JCB, my cousin goes to Rutgers and she said she met Rice at the food court (i think its called the dining lounge or w/e) and her friend like stared him down so he came over and said something along the lines of, im chillin only got 3 more weeks left, so im assuming he is gone. Its nice to see we got a good QB recruit coming in, and i like Robinson at RB next year.</p>

As long as he's projected as a 2nd rounder, he's gone.</p> I, too, like Mason at RB next year. He's bulked up a lot since he first arrived, and I think a combo of him/Young/Brooks will be awesome. Young's rehab is going very well, and he's supposedly bulked up and is stronger than he was when he was injured.</p> </p>
Jefferson named top offensive player <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"When he shows up at Rutgers, there's going to be other QBs there that already know the offense," Tate said. "That will give him a chance to grow. They're going to run the ball and do play action and try for a balanced offense." The Blue Devils also had good balance with the running game and Tate said that has kept Jefferson from being listed among the nation's best players. Rivals.com has Jefferson listed as a three-star prospect. "You want to be up there on those lists with the best of the best and that takes stats," Tate said. "We ran it enough to move the chains and not win by 40, and we weren't padding stats. I guess I'm a little old-fashioned." Not so old-fashioned, though, that he took the ball away from his quarterback. Quite the opposite, actually. Jefferson threw for 1,622 yards and 17 touchdowns his senior year. Tate said one of the best qualities Jefferson has is the confidence to create plays, which has led to much gained yardage but also contributed to his 10 interceptions. "He has the ability to do a lot of things," Tate said. "Some of those interceptions were the defense making good plays - they practice, too - but some of them were probably competitive spirit. You have to try to make a play and do some things, so not all interceptions are a bad thing." Jefferson had committed to LSU, but changed his mind a few weeks ago and now is committed to Rutgers. Wherever he goes, one thing is certain: He'll be hard to miss. Jefferson, who also played center for the Blue Devil basketball team until this season, stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 240. He also throws hard enough to impale receivers and can run with the ball when the play breaks down. Quarterbacks like that - think former UCF and Miami Dolphins quarterback Daunte Culpepper - are hard to find.</div>
DC Jefferson to participate in Offense-Defense All Star Game <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>As their impressive high school football careers come to an end, a group of the nation's top senior prospects are gathering to add one more finishing touch to their résumés. The Offense-Defense All-Star Game in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., features some of the biggest names in the class of 2008. Each participant will get one more chance to show what he can do against a roster of college-ready talent. The teams are separated geographically into an East and a West team. The squads will have three days of two-a-day practices before suiting up for the Jan. 5 game in the Orange Bowl. The East team is led by Florida standout D.C. Jefferson, a three-star quarterback who will be taking his services up the coast to play for Greg Schiano at Rutgers next fall.</div>
DC was in the Offense/Defense All-Star game tonight and from what I gather he had an okay game. I think he completed about 30% of his passes, but about 3-4 of them were supposedly dropped by the receivers. The announcers have been raving about him apparently, and he was interviewed by Nate Newton and reaffirmed his commitment to Rutgers. He's solid.
