"It's been a rough month for me, the last five or six startshaven't been the greatest," Gaudin said. "It was real importantfor me to go out there and give a good performance. Now it'sover with and lets move on to the next one."

Gaudin yielded two runs in the first inning, but regrouped andretired 10 batters in a row at one point. He escaped a two-outdouble by Ivan Rodriguez in the fourth and a one-out triple byCarlos Guillen in the sixth.

"I felt good the first inning," Gaudin said. "I was just tryingto feel for it too much. I was trying to, I guess you could sayguiding the ball, in a sense. I let it rip and trusted(myself). It was good. It was good for the team, good for meand just all around good enough."

After allowing a one-out single to Brandon Inge in the seventh,Gaudin departed when Curtis Granderson followed by hitting intoa fielder's choice. Andrew Brown struck out Placido Polanco toend the frame.

Magglio Ordonez drove in two runs in the first for 104 RBI forthe season.

"The guy is seeing beach balls," Gaudin said of Ordonez. "I justwent at him. I wasn't going to pitch around him. He does alot of great things and I wanted to take that out of theequation. Just trust in the pitches that we called and that it'sgoing to be the right pitch."

Re: AL: OAKLAND (56-62) at DETROIT (65-52)

A's played some great ball yesterday. Chad Guadin came back to himself after struggling before this game yesterday. Hopefully we can start making some moves closer to the playoffs. We have a slim chance of making it but their is still hope for A's fans. But if we don't make the playoffs which will likely happen we can look for another goal which is be above .500.
