PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- He played, he was sharp, and perhapsmost importantly for Philadelphia Eagles fans, quarterbackDonovan McNabb remained healthy on Friday.

In his first start since suffering a season-ending knee injurylast year, McNabb completed 6-of-9 passes for 138 yards as theEagles defeated the Carolina Panthers, 27-10, in a preseasoncontest at Lincoln Financial Field.

The five-time Pro Bowl quarterback looked sharp from the onset.

After the opening kickoff, McNabb completed his first threepasses before David Akers' 52-yard field goal capped thesix-play drive with 12:12 remaining in the first quarter.

On the next series, McNabb found tight end Matt Schobel for a58-yard completion to put the Eagles (1-1) on the Panthers 3.Running back Tony Hunt punched it in from that distance to scorethe first of his two touchdowns and give Philadelphia a 10-0lead.

In total, McNabb played four series before being replaced byA.J. Feeley to start the second quarter.

"So, that's where it starts," McNabb said. "Right now, whatyou're seeing is a team that's motivated to come out and make animpression and have a great time with it."

This was a far cry from the last time Philadelphia fans sawMcNabb play in a game.

McNabb suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in a November 19loss at home to the Tennessee Titans. Jeff Garcia took hisplace and guided the Eagles to the NFC East Division title and afirst-round playoff victory over the New York Giants beforebeing bounced by the New Orleans Saints.

McNabb did not play in the Eagles' 29-3 preseason loss toBaltimore on Monday.

Cornerback Lito Sheppard's 40-yard interception return for ascore gave the Eagles a 17-0 lead in the second quarter.

David Carr, who spent the first five years of his career withthe Houston Texans, had a nine-yard touchdown run for the lonescore for the Panthers (1-1).
