Owings scattered three runs over seven innings, homered twiceand became just the fifth major league pitcher in the past 50years to drive in six runs in a game to power the ArizonaDiamondbacks to a 12-6 rout of the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. A native of Gainesville, Georgia, Owings (6-6) excelled as aGeorgia prep school star, smashing 25 homers in his seniorseason at Gainsville High School to set a state record beforebecoming a two-way standout at Georgia Tech.
