With rumors swirling around barry constantly i have heard a recent one. Since he says he will play one more year it is doubtful he stays in the National league...now the most probably spots in the AL for him to wind up is somewhere on the east coast so prolly LA or OAK personally i would welcome him to the A's barry on Fresh legs all the time is killer!
Frank Thomas ---> Mike Piazza ---> Barry Bonds It makes sense, and Barry doesn't have to move from the only place where he's popular.
I think the Cubs are going to throw around big money again next summer, and sign both Bonds and A-Rod.
Boasting a lineup of
1- Ronny Theriot2- Alfonso Soriano3- Derek Lee4- Barry Bonds5- Alex Rodriguez6- Aramis Ramirez
Watch out MLB!!!! Cubs year next year (and this year!)

QUOTE (Kid Chocolate)

Bonds will never sign in Chicago.

Why not?

I don't see him leaving the west coast.

He's broken the record, is generally disliked in most places, except the bay, and is aging.
Why would he go to Chicago?
He's said that next year he'd like to retire, or stay close to home and his family.

I'd imagine he'd love to rub it in everyone's faces how he is the guy that brought the Cubs a world series.
In addition, Selig wouldn't want to sour a Cubs championship, and thats a large fanbase full of hate that he could get on his side.

How would Selig sour a Cubs championship in regards to this? He can't prevent Barry from going to the Cubs.

I'd give the chances of Barry going to the Cubs about .5%

Whatever you're talking about...Bonds doesn't care enough about people's perceptions of him to do something that drastic. He won't leave California. He'll either get into a war with the Giants and retire, the As or Angelswillpick him up, or he'll retire. He needs to go to Oakland where he can DH though, that's what's best for him. I wonder if he would stick around two more years for 800 though.
And if anything if he went to the Cubs and got them close to a title the media'd be working overtime to make Bonds a sympathetic figure. He couldn't sour a Cubs title.
