    BALTIMORE (Ticker) - In a penalty-laden preseason game, the NewYork Giants defeated the Baltimore Ravens, 13-12, in front of70,754 fans at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore Sunday night.

    Eli Manning led the Giants by going 10-for-13 for 114 yards infive series and connecting with rookie wide receiver Steve Smithfor the game's only touchdown - a 10-yard pass early in the<div class="pre">second quarter for a 7-3 lead.</div>

    Manning also hit tight end Jeremy Shockey for 18 yards in the<div class="pre">eight-play, 80-yard drive. Smith suffered a concussion on the</div>touchdown catch but his injury was the least severe for NewYork.


    Wide receiver Michael Jennings ruptured an Achilles tendon andis lost for the season. Free safety Will Demps dislocated anelbow and is expected to be out three to four weeks, whilecornerback Sam Madison pulling a hamstring.


    Jennings was starting in place of Plaxico Burress, who did notplay.


    <div class="pre">Ravens quarterback Steve McNair was 5-for-8 for 29 yards in the</div>first quarter. Even less impressive was new running backWillis McGahee, who ran for only three yards in six attempts.

    Kicker Matt Stover struck first for the Ravens, hitting from 33yards out to put them ahead, 3-0. He also connected later inthe second quarter from 47 yards out and is 7-for-7 so far thispreseason.


    Giants rookie Josh Huston had a 50-yard field goal early in thefourth to give New York a 10-6 lead and added a 30-yarder with5:57 left in the fourth, making it 13-9.


    The Giants had a total of 12 penalties for 111 yards; the Ravenswere no better with 11 for 66 yards.


    Giants running back Brandon Jacobs ran for 23 yards in sixattempts while backup Reuben Droughns rushed for 11 yards in sixcarries - also in the first quarter.


    Backup running back Mike Anderson was the Ravens' only runningthreat in the first half, rushing for 37 yards in only threecarries.


    Baltimore had two key injuries. Starting cornerback SamariRolle was hurt in the first quarter with a right ankle injuryand wide receiver Mark Clayton suffered the same injury. X-rayswere negative for both players and neither returned.

    The Ravens had a total of six sacks.
