Various rumors are swirling on other sites that unless the Pacers significantly lower their price for Jermaine O'Neal, the Lakers will accomodate Kobe and trade him by the start of the season. Apparently, in fact, Kobe was in Chicago a few weeks ago and some sort of discussion/meeting occured.

So is Kobe coming?
Do we want Kobe coming?
Is Kobe really this guy?

I hope not. He would screw up the whole system and the chemistry. Also i think we would have too give too much.
Unless Lakers are prepared to just take one of Gordon/Deng Viktar Khryapa, and PJ Brown (if he agrees to it) I want no part of Kobe.
I'd be more inclined to trade Hinrich away first off. I'd give Noah away with him for the luxury of giving Hinrich away. But if we have to give Deng/Gordon to the Lakers, I'd give Deng, and just have Kobe move to small forward and go to a three guard lineup that Skiles loves to play anyhow.
Anything more, and Paxson shouldn't touch this trade, and should have a 10 foot stick.

Kobe won't be traded for these reasons:
1) Contract- His contract is so enormous the Bulls might have to give up more than they want
2) Expectations from the Lakers' perspective- They will obviously want to get more than you fans are willing to give up. And I assume the Bulls' orrginizatio is thinking the same way.

QUOTE (Madden King)

When will this rumor go away?!?! Personally, I DO NOT want to see Kobe in a Bulls uniform!!

Me too. I'd rather watch the Bulls with the current guys go out and lose, then have Kobe waltz in and win a title with the Bulls.

Bulls can sign PJ Brown to something like a $9.2M contract and trade him to the Lakers as an expiring contract with no BYC or other issues. The contract has to be for 3 years, but only the 1st needs to be guaranteed. PJ can retire, or the Lakers can buy him out, or the Lakers can just tell him to stay home and enjoy his retirement.
This would leave the bulls about $5M short of matching the dollars in Kobe's contract for CBA purposes. The contracts of Gordon (or Thomas) and Adrian Griffin would satisfy the CBA.
Bulls can sign PJ for less than $9.2M if less is desired or required.
I don't see this deal as necessitating the bulls trading much of their team to get Kobe. It really would be an issue of what assets the Lakers are willing to take. The Lakers don't have to deal Kobe by himself, either, so a trade that brings back players from LA is feasible.
The Lakers might take PJ, Gordon, Thomas and a 1st round pick.
