I have to go to court tomorrow for making an improper left turn. The only reason I'm taking it to court is because it is 3 points on my license and I hope to have that reduced. I made the left turn on a block were it had left turn arrows on the ground (in the left lane) however; it had a sign that said no left turn between 4:30 and 7:00 that no one saw. I wasn't the only one that got a ticket, it was a whole line of cars. Right when I made the turn there was a police officer standing there directing everyone to pull over.

    Any suggestions?

Don't wear pants or a shirt. Just a bowtie.

If there are a lot of people there for the same violation, they most likely will reduce the penalty to just move things along.

This reminds me of the time, during last Christmas (X-mas eve probably) when about 20 people got pulled over for cutting through the park to bypass the heavy traffic (there is an exit only out of the park that goes right by the mall), and people were going through that exit only, entering the park!

Anyhow, stuff with a cucumber (a large one), and act like a man in charge. Use crazy court room antics. Surprise witnesses, etc.

Run through both editions of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney on the Nintendo DS.

In addition, learn Japanese, and play through all the Japanese editions of the game.

You will own that court room.

I got a similar ticket a few years ago.

Show up early and sign in. It gets crowded fast and will take forever if you are late.

The cop will very likely come and offer you a deal.

I got no points - just pay the fine, which of course is all the town really wants. They don't care about your insurance company.

This is very common. I would be surprised if you ever had to go before the judge.

I've also been in a court where they just reduced everyone's charge to "failure to yeild to an officer" and everyone took it because it had no points, despite being a larger fine. If the sign was actually hidden, and you've got photos, and they aren't offering a deal, you've got an okay case- just be sure to point out that it couldn't be reasonably expected that you'd seen the sign. You can always appeal, too. Also a few weird legal manuevers like not waiving your right to a speedy trial or something- I don't remember what.

Thanks for the help guys. I took KC's advice and went with just bowtie and they reduiced my ticket, however; I have to go to a mental institution. See everyone soon.

They reduiced the ticket to "unsafe driving" which is no points and I had to pay $439 with court fees etc.

Glad you didn't get any points.

It is my experience that cops will perjure themselves on the stand in traffic court to get a ticket to stand. Apparently it isn't really perjury because the court (at least in California) assumes the officer to be an expert witness and anything they say to be the truth.

Holy shit that's a lot of money!

    I had to pay $84.

That turn is a major source of revenue for that town.

I can't believe they can justify reaming people like that.

Still, it's a bargain compared to the insurance surcharges.

Wow. I am really mad about this bullshiz.

It's an obvious trap and it should be illegal.

How the fudge do they justify charging over $400 for that infraction?

Man, this is some real fascist crap. I wish some lawyer would tear North Bergan a new asshole.

Hey, lukewarmplay, arent you a lawyer or in the process of becoming one? What do you think about this kind of garbage?
