“We don’t say anything about people shooting deers and shooting other animals. You know what I mean? From what I hear, dog-fighting is a sport. It’s just behind closed doors and I think it’s tough that we build Michael Vick up and then we break him down. I think he’s one of the superb athletes and he’s a good human being. I think he fell into a bad situation.”

He talks too much, I wouldn't put too much stock into anything he says.

Just because he's not against it doesn't mean he does it. Hell, it doesn't even say he's against it technically

He's right about deer hunting though. How about fishing? No matter how you look at it, you're taking lives.

But yeah marbury has been kind of weird lately.

Its not so much about taking the lives, but the cruel manner in which it is done.

1.) the dogs were forced to fight each other

    2.) they drowned the dogs.

Killing the bucks is in a clean shot, and the purpose is for food, with the making of sausage, jerky, and venison. Killing the dogs was just torture.

Taking lives schmaking lives. It's too much thinking for me. I need to go blow off some steam and chop down some trees.

The deer only die in a clean shot by a skilled hunter, I'm sure plenty of time they suffer from near fatal wounds.

A lot of people hunt just for sport and not for food, too.

Thats what I meant. They hunt them for fun, and have pleasure in killing them. (taking lives) Just like Vick did.

And yes Vick should go to prison.

Killing for fun is cruel. Hunting, imo, is only justified when its for food.

I dont think it should be illegal to let animals fight....animals are not people, and they dont have the same rights that people have....God gave us the earth and all its creatures and made them submissive to man for a reason....so if you want to watch them fight, then watch them fight.....I find it a bit seedy that people enjoy watching things like this, but I dont believe its the responsibility of the government to regulate it....having said that, if you are training an animal to fight and it gets away from you and hurts someone or causes damage to anyone else, I believe you are responsible for that damage, so you better be careful if you are going to keep killer animals....In the deep south(where Im from), they use the same kind of dog to hunt wild boar....which is basically using the dog to catch the boar, latch on to him, and hold him down until the hunter can tie him up....then they take the boar home and confine him so his muscles will soften(or the meat is stringy)....then they shoot him at point blank range....that is perfectly legal here....I dont see a lot of difference in that procedure than in having the dogs fight....

The head of Atlanta's NAACP chapter also said something similar.

To me, there is no comparasion to killing a deer or bear in a straight shot for food/helping control the population, than to starve and abuse a dog over a period of time for the purpose of fighting them.

FWIW, I don't personally hunt or like hunting ethier.

This guy has shown what a nut-job he is over the course of the summer. He's made so many dumb comments this off-season, maybe he should just shut his mouth.

Hunting controls the population of species though. Unfortunately, we are too far down this path to say "just let everything live and play out the way it will". We've altered the landscape too much and now have a responsibility to control what we have too.

You ever tried hunting? It's pretty hard to even get the tickets to be able to shoot these animals? It's like a lottery, actually, it is a lottery.

What Vick did was horribly different.
