According to two league sources, the Kings have made the fourth-year shooting guard an offer of five years for approximately $55 million. Martin, who is entering the final season of his contract, is expected to be handsomely rewarded for his breakout 2006-07 season as an agreement could be reached this week. The thing I like about Kevin Martin is that he knows how to get to the line very efficiently. No-brainer for the Kings...24 year old, coming off averaging 20 ppg? Gotta pay him.
The Kings have no choice but to give him this contract. Martin is a good player and I think he will prove he is worthy of this contract once Sacramento figures out what the heck they are doing.
