Lackey (16-8) defeated the Mariners for the third time thisseason by pitching a complete-game shutout. He has not alloweda run to Seattle in 24 innings this season. The 28-year-old righthander scattered seven hits, striking outfive without allowing a walk, and got into serious trouble onlyonce as he snapped a personal two-game losing streak. The shutout was Lackey's seventh of his career and second of theseason over the Mariners. He handed them an 8-0 setback atSafeco Field on July 31.
