When the draft is fully completed, I suggest we each do a self-review of our own team. It'll be interesting to see what peoples' though processes were and how they see the team fitting together.

I really like the way you've put together your starting 5, and think you might have the best depth at PG. Personally I would play Nate Robinson at SG over Dahantay Jones. I'm not a big fan of Trenton Hassell, and I don't know how Mutumbo will perform, so depth at the SF and C positions are the only question marks I see.

    Thoughts on my team?

    Randy Foye / Bobby Jackson
    Kobe Bryant / Derrick Byars
Corey Maggette / Yi Jianlian / Pops Mensah-Bonsu
    Rasheed Wallace / Antoine Walker
Shelden Williams / Melvin Ely / Sean Williams

I will say that the bench rotation at PF and C is not set in stone, as S.Williams is a bit of a question mark.

SG: Michael Redd, Larry Hughes, Arron Afflalo

C: Jamaal Magloire, Joel Przybilla, Michael Doleac

Thoughts? My defense seems to be a little questionable with my first team, but I have quality defenders off the bench in Joel, Joe Smith, Udoka and Hughes.

Your bench is craptastic, although I don't dislike Walker as much as some. But you've got a really solid starting 5, as long as Kobe and Corey can coexist, and I think Kobe would be enough of a playmaker when he's got talent around him to make up for Foye not really being a true point. I like Shelden on this team, even though you took him 18 rounds too early. I also think Rasheed implodes if fake Kobe plays like real Kobe. You'd have to be pretty lucky with the bench to get very far; there are too many gambles there.

I'd say I've got a need for a SG for my bench, but Kobe plays so many minutes I won't have to rely on it so much. I think Bobby Jackson, Antoine, and Melvin make up a solid bench, with Yi ready to be a good scorer too. Pops really shouldn't be considered, that pick was for me. Sean Williams could be big too, but who knows. I actually really like my bench big men.

I was trying to decide before my last pick if I was weaker at center or at the point; I decided that by the time Jason Williams gets injured, Tony Allen will be all the way back and ready to take some minutes there. Even so, I still don't see Butler getting much time. Gasol switches to C, and then maybe Jamison goes PF on offense and guards the opposing 3 on defense, and either Herrmann and Balkman would be fine as a starter, until Nenad gets back. I like the Nenad/Gasol combo, but I think I'm pretty weak defensively, thanks mostly to Jamison, which is why I'd like to see him move back to the 3 (but I don't think Nenad's as bad on d as everyone else seems to (okay, so he doesn't understand the 3-second rule)). Maybe Acie doesn't start right away, but I tried to get guys who were good at sharing the ball to help him out- Iggy averages like 6 assists a game, Gasol 3, even Nenad gets 2. I also like my bench a lot, and I think Fabio will have a great year. And he dunks with no pants.

IMO, you should've gotten a point guard. but still, Butler was a pretty good pick.

Well since I'm bored and waiting in the airport (headed to Burlington) I will start the self evaluations.

    My team:

    Center: Emeka Okafor/Chris Mihm

Forwards: Chris Bosh/Darius Songaila, Josh Howard/Matt Harpring/Shawne Williams

Guards: Devin Brown/Rodney Stuckey/Casey Jacobsen, Kirk Hinrich/Jordan Farmar

My goal was to build a young, financially sound team that can win a championship both now and 5 or 6 years from now. I feel like I accomplished it. With the exception of Okafor, the core of my team is all signed to long term contracts. According to my calculations, my team is still under the salary cap too. My team is lead by a group of young veterans and should be a terrific defensive and rebounding team that will thrive in a grind it out, halfcourt game, but will also excel in transition. There are injury concerns in my frontcourt, but aside from them my starting unit is terrific, my bench is more than solid, and all my players complement each other.

Okafor is an athletic shot blocker and rebounder that can occasionally hit the midrange J and score a little down low. Backing him up is Mihm, and although he missed the entire season last year, he slipped way more than he should have in the draft. He could start on a lot of teams. He's pretty athletic and mobile (especially for a big white guy) and is a decent rebounder and shot blocker. He can score on the block with a nice hook shot too. IMO he's a very good backup center to have.

Bosh will be the team's leading scorer and go to guy. He's got a terrific face up game though he needs to improve with his back to the basket. He's a very good midrange shooter and can occasionally even step out to the 3 point line. He's an excellent rebounder also and is a solid shot blocker. Darius Songaila backs him up. He's a smart player, good defender, and a very good midrange shooter.

I love Josh Howard. I think he's the best small forward in the NBA not named LeBron, Carmelo, or Pierce. He's a terrific defender both on ball and off and he's turned himself into a very reliable shooter. He's a good ball handler who can slash to the basket and finish strong as well as score from the post. He's an excellent rebounder too. IMO he's the ideal wing player. Backing him up is one of the best sixth men in the NBA, Matt Harpring. Harpring is an extremely aggressive, physical defender who's an exceptionally hard worker and good midrange shooter. He provides the team with strong veteran leadership. Also in the frontcourt is Shawne Williams, who is a knuckle head that might not have much of a chance staying on this team, but I felt like my team was strong enough and deep enough where I could afford to take a chance with him. He is a talented project unlikely to see any time on the floor.

I think my frontcourt is fantastic and that the only teams that can compete with it are Utah and Detroit, though my frontcourt is much deeper than theirs. In the backcourt I've got Devin Brown starting at the 2 with Stuckey backing him up. You may question Devin Brown being a starter, but I liked him a lot in San Antonio and he had a terrific season last year. He's a guy that can create his own shot and defend a little. He fits in well with the rest of my starting unit. You don't need a star player at the 2. All you need is a serviceable player, and Brown is that. Stuckey is a combo guard that will give me instant offense off the bench. I expect him to have a very productive rookie season. Casey Jacobsen will be used at the 2 and 3 as a spot up shooter. Running point will be Hinrich, who's an excellent defender, solid shooter, and good leader. Farmar is a young, capable backup.

My team will be phenomenal defensively and should contend for a championship both now and in the future. Thoughts?

Your frontcourt is very solid and if any team in the NBA had those three 3-5, they would be set for a decade.
