http://www.sptimes.com/2007/08/28/Bucs/_Fo...voiding_a.shtml
Quarterback Chris Simms, who has played one series this preseason, may be making his final appearance in a Bucs uniform Thursday.
Wow... he showed flashes of being good until he got wrecked at the start of last year. Will he get picked up somewhere?

Bucs need to get rid of Gruden and Allen after this season, if they fail to do anything.Which I think happens. Butthey're ruining that team,

I think he can still play very well. He's very accurate although he tends to throw a little too many INTs. I think in a good system like atlanta he could flourish into a potentially pro bowler. Reminds me of a poor mans kurt warner.
I tend to agree
More here http://www.sptimes.com/2007/08/30/Bucs/Las...r_Simms_i.shtml
Simms, who turned 27 Wednesday, could make his final appearance in a Tampa Bay uniform tonight against the Texans.
Although Simms is making progress, the effects of his splenectomy in September have prevented him from really competing for a spot on the roster.
He began training camp with a sore left elbow and got few reps before the team left Lake Buena Vista. He has appeared in just one series this preseason - six plays against the Dolphins last week, including a dropped pass and another that was pitched illegally after he crossed the line of scrimmage.
"Look, I love the guy," coach Jon Gruden said. "We've had five years together. Who knows? We may have five more together, you never know. There's a lot left unsaid about his future and his career right now, and we're trying like hell to give him a chance to resume his normal playing status."
This makes it sound like he's just not healthy, although it's not really clear to me how having his spleen removed allows him to play but not throw worth a damn.

You guys like Simms more than Gradkowski?
Simms has a good arm, but makes poor desicions all the time and imo, shows just plain bad body language. People say it was because of injury, but he playd TERRIBLE before that panthers game last year. Plus remember when he ruined our playoff run a year before against the REdskins??
The guys got talent, but i say we trade him away and let Garcia show Gradkowski the ropes, who have almost identical gamestyles.

He has a good arm and is pretty accurate. Last year he was pretty bad but even brett favre threw 29 INTs a few years ago. He's already led them to the playoffs once and i think he should share time with garcia. Gradkowski is overrated.

hah. how could a rookie qb from the 7th round be overated.
And i defenitly wouldnt say Simms lead the Bucs to the playoffs in 2005. The Bucs Defense, and amazing cadillac rookie campign, and BRIAN GRIESE's 5-1 start lad that team to the palyoffs.

Now look i think Simms has talent and a strong arm, i think we can all agree on. But he's to injury prone, critics think he's the next peyton manning and soon he's going to ask for more and more money. I say we trade him for some picks to help out our agind defense/WR core next year int he draft.

Speaking of Shaun King since he's in the thread description, I could never understand why he hasn't been signed by anyone for the past couple years. He was with the Colts during camp last year but he didn't make the team. I honestly believe that King is better than some quarterbacks in the NFL right now and I think he'd make a great backup quarterback. I don't understand why a team hasn't brought him in and he's stuck doing commentary for ESPN.

I've wondered about that myself, he didn't seem outlandishly bad or anything. I wonder if he's just not a "football guy" or he's got a bad attitude or something.
I met Shaun King when he was with Tampa and he was really nice and cool. He always comes across as nice and smart on ESPN as well. It's just always been strange to me that he can't get a job as a backup quarterback.
