--I was wrong; Circuit City is NOT offering an extra 10% off of TVs if you use their credit card. They will offer interest-free payments until 2009.
--I spoke to the store manager at Sears today. He reiterated their (misleading) policy and refused to match Circuit City's price.
--I was ready to void the purchase at Sears and buy the TV at Circuit City, even though it would cost $50 more. Problem: Circuit City has now raised the price again, by $100. So it looks like I have to stick with Sears.
--Problem solved: As I was about to call a friend that specializes in federal class action lawsuits, I decided to check Sears' website on more time. Guess what? Today Sears lowered their price of the TV on their web site to the price that Circuit City was listing it at last week. So I marched back to Sears, they gave me a refundof $200 in accordancewith their current price . . . plus they gave me an extra 10% of the price difference for some reason . . . so, with tax, they just refunded me about $235. Score!
--So now I'm happy; I'm getting a great price on a great TV. My friend will be unhappy, though, because I no longer have a cause of action.
--Should be delivered on Friday. Hopefully the stand will come before then. I've got the HDMI cables, the upscaling DVD player, a center/rear speakers combo to add to my stereo for surround sound, and some 12 gauge speaker wire. I think I'm set . . .
