    Weaver scattered seven hits in a career-high eight innings andVladimir Guerrero and Jeff Mathis each homered to help theAngels to an 8-2 victory over the Mariners on Wednesday and asweep of their three-game series.


    Garret Anderson collected four hits and Kendry Morales addedthree for the Angels (79-54), who extended their winning streakto four games and expanded their lead over the Mariners (73-58)in the American League West Division to five games. With thetriumph, Anaheim improved to 11-4 against Seattle this season.

    The Mariners, who have lost five in a row, saw their advantageover the New York Yankees (73-59) in the AL wild card standingsreduced to one-half game. New York is hosting Boston onWednesday night.


    Weaver (10-6) won for the fourth time in his last fivedecisions, allowing two runs - one earned - in the longestouting of his brief career. The lanky righthander struck outfive without walking a batter, throwing 70-of-100 pitches forstrikes.


    Guerrero continued his season-long hot hitting against theMariners, going 2-for-5 with a solo homer and two runs scored.In 14 games vs. Seattle this year, the slugger is hitting .500(29-for-58) with five blasts and 17 RBI.


    Mariners starter Felix Hernandez (10-7) - who had won hisprevious four decisions - was not sharp, giving up six runs anda season-high 13 hits in seven-plus innings. He did not walk abatter but uncorked a pair of wild pitches while striking outthree.


    In falling to 0-3 lifetime against Anaheim at Safeco Field,Hernandez ran into trouble right away, giving up twofirst-inning runs on four singles. Gary Matthews Jr. led offwith a base hit, took second on a wild pitch and moved to thirdon Orlando Cabrera's single.


    Anderson and Morales delivered run-scoring singles around astrikeout to open a 2-0 lead.


    Seattle got back a run in the second, when Adrian Beltre hit aleadoff single, stole second, took third on catcher Jeff Mathis'throwing error and scored on Ben Broussard's groundout.

    Mathis atoned for his miscue with a solo homer in the fourth,giving the Angels a 3-1 advantage. But the Mariners respondedwith a run in the bottom of the inning on Beltre's sacrificefly.


    But Guerrero's leadoff blast - his 22nd of the season - into theMariners' bullpen in left field in the fifth restored Anaheim'stwo-run lead.
