Jon Kitna wore a cap with a cross on it to a news conference and got popped for $5,000. What a joke! Meanwhile, tune in to NFL Under The Helmet, a program geared toward kids, and watch football highlights set to music by rap artists who most likely have never put out an album without a parental advisory label on it. Give me a break. Is the NFL so hard for money that they have to look for any reason to fine players? I think the NFL should post where fine money is going on NFL.com. Hopefully, it's going to charity.

I'm sure that Jon knew that he was breaking a rule by wearing anything but licensed equipment to a press conference. I think he just figured it was worth the $5K to express himself.

Perhaps he forgot. Sometimes a guy will point to my hat and say, "Nice hat." I often have to try and remember if I have on a Miami Dolphins hat or Louisville Cardinals hat.

Fair enough. I have the same issue with any of a number of hats I might grab for a quick walkabout. Also, I can remember walking out of church on Ash Wednesday and forgetting that I had a cross painted on my forehead. But I only forgot that one time.

Yeah, but did you get fined $5,000? I was in a record shop one day when I saw a bunch of people walk by with black marks on their foreheads. I had a brief thought that it was the mark of the beast or an alien invasion or something, until the owner reminded me that there was a Catholic church next door. Silly me! We all know that the mark of the beast is the Broncos logo! jk

Fined, no. But I didn't sign a contract that stipulated that I would be fined or have my pay docked if I didn't follow the uniform rules of the entire corporation.

Keep punching those keys Zackman. Far be it from me to get involved in a theological argument, and I didn't think I was even in a theological conversation.

Chip, I owe you an apology. I reread my earlier post and I don't like the way it came out. I wasn't trying to put down Catholic practices. I was trying to poke fun at my ignorance of Catholic practices. I certainly didn't mean to open the door for any Catholic bashing. Anyways, I'm sorry.

Could it have been a honest mistake? I found this quote on the SI web site.

"That's what happens when you don't follow the rules," Kitna told the Bengals' Web site on Thursday. "I won't wear it any more. The Bible says submit to the authorities placed above you. The authorities say that's the rule."

Kitna said, however, he plans to appeal the fine because he thought the NFL rule just applied to competitors' products.

I don't think the article I posted bashes Catholics. It does expose some problems with what they teach. I think reading it would benefit people like Dale who admit they know little about Catholic teaching or anyone Catholic. If it incourges anyone to seek out a Bible based Church I think it's a good thing.

I liked Kitna before this and I like him more now. The fine can be part of his 10% tithe and has us and many others talking about the Bible. I think he has pleased the Lord with his actions and comments. Now he'll no doubt be slammed like Kurt and Brenda Warner have been. It goes with being a Christian who has the courage to do their duty and tell others about Jesus and his Word.

My posts will never please everyone ... so do I need to say I'm sorry after each post? I think not.

Just like they did against the Broncos the first game right BearsFan1? The fact of the matter is the Broncos beat the crap out of Indy without Portis in Indianapolis, expect the same result with Portis running the show!

lol, well i forgot that if you beat a team badly once than you are doomed to repeat that fate everytime you play them for the rest of the season. If i had remembered that than i would not have made such a ludicrous post suggesting that INDY would beat DENVER. Obviously i have made a huge error of judgement, i hereby proclaim DENVER as the greatest team in the state of Colorado. Let none speak of a broncos loss again for they will surely smite all foes who stand before them. One more thing, I am being VERY sarcastic, I stand by what i said INDY BIG over the BRONCOS.

I'm with BearsFan1 on this one. Indy big over Denver in round one. And you thought it was bad in Green Bay! 31-3??? You may be known as fg2fg after next week! LOL
