You can't underestimate the idiocy of GMs. When he first was called up, Andruw was a premier defensive CF with exceptional power and the speed to steal 30 bases. Now he is a middling defender with moderate power; a guy with a high strikeout rate, average contact rate, andwith average speed. I'm sure someone will sign him to a five year contract worth $15 million per year. It makes me wish there was a salary cap in baseball.
I could see the Dodgers paying for him. Power bat, they lacked this year. And they do have a big OF for him to patrol.</p> How about the O's if they ship Tejada out of town?</p> If the Mariners make the playoffs? It would seriously suck to see him on another team, but he's not worth that kinda salary. Especially since The Braves can't afford to sign everybody they would like to.

He's a lifetime .260 hitter in an era where offensive numbers have been inflated. He's hit over .265 once in the past seven years. He's never had an OBP higher than .365 or so. In the past seven years, he has posted a slugging percentage above .530 once. In each of the first four years of his career, he surpassed 20 steals; in the last six years, he has stolen 32 bases, TOTAL. He hit 50 HRs two years ago, but hasn't come close any other year--his second highest total was 41 last year, and he'll finish this year with around 30--which was roughly his average prior to these last two years. He's old news; he's declining. You can have him.</p>
I dont believe he will get even half that....I see the Braves stepping up in the neighborhood of 5 years, $60 mil at the most....any GM that goes over that better have a good severence package or work for a Steinbrenner
since when does a player suck in his contract year? now, you know he's having a real rough year when that happens.

Did you know that Soriano's LOWEST single-season batting average is HIGHER than Andruw's lifetime average? Did you know that Soriano was 40-40 once (last year) and 30-30 three other times? </p>
Jones is no where near Soriano's worth.</p> Jones used to be fat, and now that he's off the 'roids, look at how malnourished his face looks.</p> Mariners won't sign him, they have some big OF prospects they want room for (Adam Jones).</p> </p>
